Helping students get ready for careers

Students in the Heavy Equipment Science program at Fairdale High School will be able to train with professional equipment thanks to a recent donation from Louisville WaterFairdale instructor Dave Myers called it "a very generous donation of personal protective equipment and pipe materials for the students to work with in lab activities."  Louisville Water's donation of safety gear included hard hats as well as safety glasses and vests. Students will use the donated pieces of pipe to practice real-world excavations.
A doorway to local artists

Louisville Water joined the Alley Gallery, a project that re-purposes alley and back-of-the-building doors in downtown Louisville with artwork of local artists. Louisville Water's alley door on the Chestnut Street side of its Third Street office  features Sacred Waters by Victor Sweatt.

Congratulations to Gayle Smith, Ryan Carr, Jessica Jolly, David Penick, and James Watters who were our winners from November's picture contest!

The November contest picture above is one of 10 statues representing
Ceres, Diana, Flora, and The Horea (the seasons) that were added to the
Louisville Water Tower  on Zorn Avenue in 1861. After a tornado in 1890 hit the water tower, damaging the tower and the statues, a new statue of an Indian Hunter and his dog was added. The water tower is the oldest and most ornamental tower of its kind in the country.
