Attend this demonstration and go home with the knowledge and inspiration to create your own beautiful fall color container. You can even purchase plants or a finished pot onsite! Nick Zimmer is the founder and owner of Willow Greenhouse, "The Greenest Nursery in Southeast Michigan."

Registration will open soon. Check our website for more info:
Farm Sprouts Preschool Program

How does compost help a garden grow? Ask these preschoolers! They spent the spring season experimenting in our garden and greenhouse and interacting with our animals to build on their understandings of life cycles and our local Michigan ecosystem. The learning and fun will continue this fall!

We're currently registering for our fall season of our Farm Sprouts Preschool Program:
Calling All Teachers!

It's not too early to schedule a fall field trip for your students to Tollgate Farm and Education Center. Fall is a fascinating time to visit the farm for our Harvest Farm Ecology program. Enjoy the fall colors on your wagon ride to the pumpkin patch. Learn about the life cycles of pumpkins and apples. Meet our farm animals, pick apples, press ciders, and enjoy a tasty snack of doughnuts and cider. Bring your students to the farm for some fresh fall air and research-based programs that help your students learn where their food comes from.

Popular with school and community groups alike, our March maple sugaring program investigates the natural sweet treat native to Michigan. From tapping to tools through time, discover the making one of Michigan's finest treasures - maple syrup. This standards-based science and history program is experiential in nature and can be geared to any age or grade.

Schools are calling now to reserve dates for our Sheep to Sweater and Spring into Farming programs for spring 2018!

Zoey (L) and Max (R)
New Horses

As of Monday July 10 we have five new equine faces on loan for summer camp! Let us introduce them to you:

Tulsa - light yellow, spotted Appaloosa, mare

Max - yellow body, black legs/mane/tail, gelding (pictured, right)

Zoey - red/brown body, white face, white markings on legs, freeze brand on left shoulder, mare (pictured, left)

Jade - white horse, mare

Ellie - brown body, minimal white on face, freeze brand on left flank, mare

They are friendly but, of course, always exercise caution when around large animals.

You may be wondering about what looks like "blindfolds" on some of the horses' heads. They may be wearing fly masks. These are made of mesh material and the horses can see perfectly fine through them.

The next time you visit Tollgate, don't forget to say "hello!" to these beauties.
