Children's Vision Massachusetts is a coalition representing optometry, ophthalmology, nursing, pediatrics, public health and families. Its mission is to create a systematic approach to children's vision care to assure that all children develop and retain their best possible vision.

City Connects Highlighted in NYT Article for Role in Improving Outcomes for Children
City Connectsa Boston College based student support organization that operates in 79 elementary schools mainly in the Northeast, was highlighted in David Kirp's Aug. 8, 2016 NYT article To Teach a Child to Read, First Give Him Glasses Mr. Kirp points out that City Connects "has erased two-thirds of the achievement gap in math and half the achievement gap in English," and that for these students, their "high school dropout rate was cut nearly in half."
Boston Public Schools Announces Partnership with 2020 On-Site Optometry
Superintendent Tommy Chang joined 2020 On-Site Optometry Founder and CEO Howard Bornstein in announcing a new partnership to provide BPS students with vision care, which includes vision screening and a free pair of eyeglasses. To read full article:Click here

Boston Based National Institute for Children's Health Quality Vision and Eye Health Project
NICHQ (National Institute for Children's Health Quality) is an independent, nonprofit organization working to improve children's health. It's Vision and Eye Health Project is funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau and led by the National Center for Children's Vision and Eye Health at Prevent Blindness. The project aims to increase the detection and diagnosis of visual impairment in children aged five years and younger by enhancing the capacity of state public health agencies to use and apply quality improvement principles and practices to implement universal vision screening for preschool-aged children. Our Space Our Place Program
Our Space Our Place is a non-profit organization offering a respectful, accessible and fun environment for elementary and high school students who are legally blind to participate in team sports, the arts, community service and mentoring. American Academy of Optometry Issues Childhood Vision Screening Policy Statement
The American Academy of Optometry recently issued a
Childhood Vision Screening Policy Statement, supported by a
letter from its President recognizing the value of a continuum of eye care that includes both evidence-based vision screenings and access to comprehensive eye examinations by optometrists/ophthalmologists.
