Friendship Centers News
Hundreds of generous friends rose to the challenge and donated during our recent Friendship Challenge campaign. Despite having to end the campaign two days early due to Hurricane Irma's impending arrival, we were able to raise $29,774 from 203 individual donors.

As a result, these donations qualified for the $25,000 in matching monies. We are very grateful for the grand total of $54,774, which most donors designated for an area of need: Friend in Need Patient Fund, Feed A Senior Nutrition Fund, Senior Programming and Activities Fund, or Sponsor A Senior Adult Day Care Fund.

Our goal for the Friendship Challenge campaign was $75,000 but just like you can't take on City Hall, you also can't beat Mother Nature. Our website,, is always available should you still wish to make a donation.

It takes a village to help older adults on their journey of aging. A hearty thank you from all of us here at Friendship Centers.

Volunteer Dentists and Doctors Greatly Needed
Friendship Centers had over 15,000 patient visits in our medical clinics in Sarasota, Venice, Lee County and Collier County last year. This is even more amazing when you consider all our doctors and medical practitioners are volunteers! Patients logged 3,200 dental visits with volunteer dentists and hygienists. We are always in need of volunteer doctors, nurses, dentists and dental professionals, so please call Robert Rogers at 941.556.3223 if you can spare a few hours to help seniors at our clinics!

Join Us at the Age Friendly Festival October 28
Come to the Sarasota Fairgrounds for a festival for all ages October 28, from 9 am to 4 pm! Our booth will have interactive activities like coloring, mind games and exercise groups for everyone. We will also offer our very own "Lucy" booth (remember the Peanuts cartoon?) with caregiving professionals helping caregivers learn ways to cope with caregiving and stress. Learn more about the festival here.

Country Jamboree Drew Smiles and Country Fans
The Country
Jamboree at the Venice Campus on September 20 was a big hit! Entertainment was provided by Patti Highland, country music singer extraordinaire! There was also a special appearance by "Hope" the miniature therapy horse. Hope and Patti brought many smiles to the faces of clients, volunteers and staff.

Thank You to the Alzheimer's Association
Supportive Aging Services Director,
Eric Flusche, accepts food packages for seniors affected by Hurricane Irma from the Alzheimer's Association, Gulf Coast Chapter.

The organization stopped by the Fort  Myers office in the Memory Mobile, one of its very visible outreach vehicles. It was a wonderful surprise! Here's a big thank you to the Alzheimer's Association for its generous offerings to area seniors in need.

Collier County
Donations to Help Diabetic Patients in Need
A huge thanks to Joe Balavage from Help a Diabetic Child, Inc. for organizing a large donation of insulin to the Senior Friendship Health Center which was forced to destroy its insulin supplies after Hurricane Irma. $50,000 worth of insulin (retail) was provided by Insulin for Life USA. All the insulin will benefit seniors at the Senior Friendship Health Center in Naples. We would like also like to thank the von Arx Family Foundation Southwest Diabetes Conference. What a team effort! On behalf of the many diabetic older adults we serve, we offer our sincere gratitude!
