Art From Venezuela - Expressions of Freedom 
Exhibit open until July 30, 2017
Blue House Too, 934 Watters Creek Blvd

The exhibit represents the efforts the Venezuelan artists make to share their expressions at a time in which freedom is scarce in their home country. The observer will be immersed in the abstract parallel universe of Luis Cuevas; enjoy in the feminist figures of Dina Atencio and Victoria Morales, the geometric figures of Alonso Aguin, as well as the quest for the Latin American identity of Oscar Casanova Niño.
 
Calling all artists - INCRESCENT: A VALA Collective
Application deadline: Saturday, July 15th
Exhibit Runs: Friday, August 4th - Sunday, September 3rd
Blue House Too, 934 Watters Creek Blvd

This will be the very first art show at Blue House Too showcasing members of the Visual Arts League of Allen (VALA)! Submissions are welcome by all VALA members with a paid VALA membership. All forms of art and media are accepted. The exhibit will be limited to 20 artists, and the number of accepted works may vary per artist. The applications will be reviewed by the Allen Arts Alliance, and a notice will be sent out no later than July 22, 2017.

Patriotic Salute

Celebrate Independence Day at Watters Creek as the Allen Philharmonic Winds, with Conductor Dr. Philip Obado, presents a lively mixture of marches and classic patriotic melodies. Freddie Jones, trumpet player for the Dallas Cowboys, opens the concert with the National Anthem.

Arrive early for family-friendly activities beginning at 6:30pm! Duck Derby is at 7:00pm and the Concert begins at 7:30pm.
 
Gator and Mudcat
Saturday, July 1 @ 7:30 p.m.
 
Dallas native "Mudcat" Michael Reames and Louisiana's "Gator" Wayne Folse describe their music as "a little bit Texas music and a little bit Louisiana music".
 
Their efforts have culminated in a new CD, Back in the Game, that was reviewed by The Texas Music Journal. Listen to Songbirds Cry from the CD.
 
Brave Combo
Friday, July 7 @ 7:30 p.m.
  
Prepare for a rhythmic global journey with t he two-time Grammy award-winning Brave Combo who have dared to go musically where few musicians would -- or could - from polka-tinged rock, pop, salsa and beyond. And of course, their always-popular Chicken Dance.

Jacob Johnson

Jacob Johnson, a musician based in Dallas, performs on an 8-course renaissance lute in G built by Mel Wong in San Francisco. The instrument is based on a series of lutes made circa 1599 in Padova, Italy. 

His repertoire spans the 15th century to the current day. This lute concert will include some of the following pieces,  The Frogg Galliard; Lachrimae; Goe From My Windowe. 

Suggested donation $10 at the door. Donations of $100 or more receive your choice of a private dinner performance for two or an intimate house concert for up to a dozen guests. 
Calling all Singers for event at the Kennedy Center
 
The Allen Symphony Chorus will perform Durufle's "Requiem" in the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. on June 18, 2018. The concert, arranged by Manhattan Concert Productions, will be directed by renowned conductor Anton Armstrong. The Chorus invites other North Texas singers to join them. Razzle Dazzle Auditions
 
The Note-Ably North Texas Chorus is looking for experienced singers for all parts, especially basses (Alto II range). If you've sung in a chorus, choir, a cappella group or a rock band, NNT Chorus will teach you barbershop! There are two ways to join them: jump right in and audition, or test the waters with a rehearsal visit.

It's OK if you're not ready to audition.  You can learn more about the Chorus by visiting a rehearsal on Mondays from 7-9 pm at the Blue House Too.  You can meet members and ask questions.

Henry, Episode IV:  A New Hope

From the author of The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon and The Superhero Ultraferno, comes a brand new play written just for ACT.  Acted, costumes designed, and directed by teens, this new work will surely be another smash hit!  Come see the world premier and support the up-and-coming actors of Allen and beyond.

The Rise of Hitler: 1918-1933
Thursday, July 20 @ 7:30 p.m.
 
A highly-recognized scholar, Dr. Suzanna Ozsvath, a professor of literature and the history of ideas as well as the chair of Holocaust studies at University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) will discuss the rise of Hitler. Founder and director of UTD's Holocaust Studies Program, she has published articles, addressing aesthetic and ethical issues in French, German, and Hungarian literature as well as the relationship between art and totalitarian ideology.

World of Watercolor Wonders

Age: 8-14 years

World of Water Color Wonders is a week long art workshop where children delve into their inner artist and create heARTful watercolor art. The workshop will cover the basics like drawing, sketching, and learning a variety of water coloring techniques. A big focus is on the technique and understanding the key elements of art in watercolor context- line, shape, form, space, texture, value and color. This will help set a strong foundation for a lifetime. Children will work on a variety of watercolor projects and take home their completed masterpieces.
