Hello Friends of affordable housing.

Thank you so much for your interest in The Lamoille Housing Partnership (LHP), Inc.

Your Quarterly News & Updates         Winter 2016
Davis Koier - LHP President
Message from The President

Greetings from the Board

This has been a tumultuous year. Even leaving out the state and national elections, things here have been moving at a brisk pace.

By all indicatio ns we are going to meet our fundraising goals for the year; this allows us to receive matching grant funds for the year. A big thanks to our community support, both private and corporate.

Much of our effort this year has been focused on the Evergreen Manor Trailer Park in Hardwi ck. We have been converting these lots into modular homes with net zero metering through the use of solar and mini split heat pumps. To date we have completed 2 structures with 11 more foundations ready for buildings.

We could not have accomplished this without our LHP team. Jim Lovinsky, our Executive Director, Kimberly Gravel, our Financial and Office Manager; and Ester Nkuli who handles our Fundraising and Public Relations.

You will note that we have three new board members who are working hard to master the list of acronyms that represent the many partners, professional associates, regulators and state and federal programs that have become the everyday lexicon for our industry. David Ford, Morrisville, Marilyn Zophar, Hyde Park, Jennifer Burton, Johnson.

2016 has also been our 25th year of operation. We have over 300 units of affordable housing under our stewardship in Lamoille County and Hardwick. It is a testament to sustained community support for those in need.

My most humble thanks to all who who have underwritten affordable housing in thought deed and action.
Happy Holidays!

Davis Koier

We Have Three New Board Members!

I n late October, the LHP existing Board of Directors elected three new members to join the them. Joining the Board are David Ford of Morrisville, Marilyn Zophar of Hyde Park, and Jennifer Burton of Johnson. All three come from our very own neighborhoods, embodying the spirit of the community. We are very fortunate to have them on our board, and are looking forward to working with them to continue making The Lamoille Housing Partnership a great affordable housing resource for the Lamoille County, Town of Hardwick, and beyond.

Big Win from TD Charitable Foundation!

At the 2016 Vermont Statewide Conference held on November 15, 2016 at the Hilton Hotel in Burlington, LHP was announced as one of the 2016 A ffordable Housing Grant recipient through the TD Charitable Foundation's Housing for Everyone Grant Competition.

The Housing for Everyone grant competition is one of the TD Charitable Foundation's most widely known signature programs. The competition invites local non-profit organizations from Maine to Florida to submit proposals outlining their plans and initiatives to support and provide affordable housing initiatives in their communities. Twenty-five organizations throughout TD Bank's footprint from Maine to Florida were awarded a $100,000 grant for a total grant donation of $2.5 million in 2015.

This grant will be used to assist in the funding of Evergreen Mobile Home Park Project in Hardwick, VT.

Support And Services at Home (SASH) Celebrated its 5th Anniversary!

During the month of November SASH celebrated it's 5th anniversary at three of its different LHP sites.

The organization is gradually becoming widely recognized and nationally respected from its significant impact in communities.  Since its door opened the following have happened:
  • over 3,500 SASH participants
  • reduced Medicare costs by an estimated $1,536 per beneficiary per year
  • reduced rate of falls & injuries
  • increased rate of heart health
  • increased rate of immunizations
  • increased number of people with advance directives, etc.
SASH combined the event with an opportunity to say good-bye to Sue Wisehart, the Wellness Nurse that has been working closely with SASH Coordinator, Maxine Adams in assisting participants for the past three years. The celebrations were at Maple St, Lamoille View, and Mann's Meadow apartments.
