It's Friends of the Loomis Library Membership Time!

What an exciting year we have in store!
If you have not met Sarah Comstock, our new librarian, please drop by and say hello.  She'll be happy to meet you.  We are also in the process of hiring a part-time assistant librarian.   So even more great things will be happening in 2018 at our Loomis Library and Community Learning Center.  Support from the Friends helps to make some of those things happen.
Can we count on you?
Basic membership is only $10 a year, $20 for your whole family.
Higher levels are always welcome.  All memberships are tax deductible per IRS 501(c)3 charitable rules.  Your dues help pay for programs, books and materials, events, summer reading, and the various little extras that can mean a lot.
To renew or join, visit the library and pick up a FOL membership envelope located at the front desk or print a membership form HERE
Save us mailing costs if you renew by Feb. 10.

Thanks to all you early bird renewals who save us the cost of sending out a renewal mailing in February.  Also, special thank you to all who are renewing or joining for the first time.
You are helping to support the library and the community for today and the future.
NEW books hitting our shelves!
We finally received the books that were donated during the Barnes and Noble Book Fair back in December. THANK YOU to everyone that volunteered and made a donation during this event.

DNA Workshop - Y-DNA #3 SNPs
Thurs. Feb. 1st 10a.m.-12p.m.

In this the third of 4 classes we will review what we covered in the previous classes. There is another way to measure your DNA it is called a SNP. We will learn how this improves your ability to set a place and time on that event in your DNA. This allows us to create a Y-DNA tree as it uses Haplotypes to assign Haplogroups to our SNPs.
We will look at the ancient Haplogrouping done with the current tests.
