Announcements
The Papa John's summer promotion ends soon. Make sure to buy the pizza while it's still summer! The PTSA has been hosting a Papa John's fundraiser all summer long. Order online from any Papa John's in the Richmond area by going to www.papajohns.com and enter the group code 1TIGERNATION. Papa John's will donate a portion of all sales made during the summer to the J. R. Tucker PTSA.

The first Full Staff Appreciation Breakfast was held on Monday, August 29th.
A BIG THANK YOU to our Hospitality Chairperson, Melinda Hofrichter for coordinating this event for our teachers and staff, and to all of the families who contributed food for it.

Refresh is a PTSA funded program that spruces up and "refreshes" our Tucker campus each year. This includes planting flowers, pruning plants, and cleaning up some of the flower beds in August preparing for our return to campus. Refresh is always a student chaired program for the PTSA. This year's Refresh Chair is Emily Gothard, and the Refresh plans were implemented by the Keyette volunteer club. If you are a student who might be interested in chairing Refresh next year, please contact our PTSA President, Ingrid Williams.
Check out our new Tucker spirit wear, which was designed after the diversity mural by Connor Childs! Spirit wear can be purchased at the Tiger's Den (school store located near Cafeteria 3) during lunch every day. Spirit wear will also be available on Fee Day (today) and Back to School Night.

Spirit Night
There will be a Spirit Night fundraiser at Gelati Celesti on Tuesday, September 20th from 5-9 pm.
Membership
Each year Parents, Teachers, and Students are asked to join or renew the PTSA. (Parent - Teacher - Student Association). This is an important way to demonstrate to our State and National PTA / PTSA organizations that our Tucker school community values the relationship between its members. We are hoping to increase our membership this year as we lag behind our local schools by significant numbers. Please join! It is only $8 per individual member or $25 maximum per family. A hefty portion of this fee stays right here at Tucker to help our school. PTSA sponsored programs include: After Prom Party (Party All Night), Baccalaureate / Senior Send-Off, Bookstore and Spirit Wear, Grants, Hospitality, PTSA Scholarships, Student Aid and Community Outreach, PTSA Website, E-Blasts, and Newsletter Communications, and more.
Tiger's Trust Notice
Individuals and families assist the PTSA by annually contributing generously to its main fundraiser, the Tiger's Trust campaign, now in its 11th year. Parents and students are asked for a one time, tax-deductible contribution to the J. R. Tucker PTSA. All contributions used to benefit Tucker students, teachers, and staff. Please remember, no amount is too small. Several companies in the immediate Richmond area offer matched contributions, so please list your employer to potentially double your contribution. If you would like to make a donation, please print and fill out the donation form from the website, place your contribution in an envelope marked "Tiger's Trust" and send it to your student's homeroom teacher or send an email to the Tiger Trust chairperson at
[email protected].
To thank you for your generosity, the first 25 donors toward each level will be awarded a thank you gift. The details are listed on
the form. If you don't receive your prize at our PTSA table on Fee Day, your student can go to the student bookstore in Cafe 3 during lunch.

Herrity House Donations
Herrity House is a year round donation program that collects items for our Tucker community. Most donations are gently used clothing and toiletries, but some household items will be accepted. Currently, the most urgent supplies needed are nice professional clothes for the parents to wear to interviews as well as everyday clothes for children of all ages. Items are free and distributed based on the greatest need. Simply drop off your donations in the main office with the label 'Herrity House.' The main office does not issue receipts, but one can be requested through an email to [email protected].
