Let's talk about Spring Cleaning

Helpful tips and Resources
Cleaning out and tidying up our homes

Heirloom today, foregone tomorrow.

As hard as this may be, nobody wants our prized possessions as much as we do, not even our kids.  As hard as it is to admit, tastes and homes have changed over the years,  those tchotchkes we dust weekly may not find a place of honor on another mantle.  The younger generation is not picking out formal china and silver anymore.  We need to face up to the reality that tidying up our household has many benefits.  There is less to worry about, less to dust and maintain, and less to leave our families to take care of when we pass.  Let's face it not all of the items we have collected over the years still bring us joy and by  sorting out specific items that have special sentimental to set aside we lighten the load on ourselves and our children and loved ones.

So where to start?  Here are a few resources to start you on your way to adding a bit of order and shine to your golden years.

S.O.A.R is looking for volunteers!

S.O.A.R. (Stepping Out and Reconnecting)  is an existing program striving to help Tri-Valley seniors.

S.O.A.R was created to reach out to seniors living alone whose health and independence is deteriorating due to social withdrawal and isolation.
Through this program, S.O.A.R participants are emotionally supported, physically cared for, and mentally challenged to expand their social lives to be healthy members of their community.

Activities includes lunch and dessert, guest speakers, crafts, group discussions and some light exercise.

They meet from  12:00 - 3:00  on the 2nd and 4th  Friday  of the month at the Senior Support Program office located at  5353 Sunol Blvd  in Pleasanton.

If you are interested in volunteering your time to help this group, please contact Amy Jones @  925-931-5393 .  Thank you!
