In the Middle
Thank you all for the kind words of support through this transition time at WMS! We are so glad to hear that you find our communications valuable and I look forward to continuing to improve them with your input!

This week has been quite a whirlwind at WMS! On Tuesday night we had a great turnout at our Grading and Reporting Parent Learning Academy where parents were able to hear about the changes to our grading and reporting system. We also streamed it on Facebook Live, so if you missed it, please watch by clicking here. You will also find the indicators for each mark below.

All students are participating in the Global Read Aloud, where schools around the world simultaneously read the same book and interact via the internet, to share ideas and compare insights! This has been so exciting for our kiddos to hear what item a 6th grader from Canada would bring if stranded on a deserted island, just like Roz the robot in The Wild Robot. 7th graders were able to see a live stream of the author of A Long Walk to Remember, Linda Sue Park. The 8th grade team is looking forward to connecting to other 8th grade classrooms to discuss A Monster Calls. It is wonderful to see and hear students talking about these books between classes and at lunch!

We rounded out the week with our Class Meetings on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week. Mr. Sepersky and I met with all 6th, 7th and 8th graders this week to talk about our next focus on our Love Your People journey: Be Kind. We tied empathy in this week as that is an important part of truly being kind to one another. Students watched a short video about the difference between sympathy and empathy, shared events where people could use empathy and talked specifically about how we can be empathetic and kind at WMS. If you are interested, please find our slideshow presentation here. We appreciate your support promoting this message at home!

We look forward to talking with you this week during our Coffee and Conversation and Pop in for Conversations this Monday and Tuesday. This month's topics include our Makerspace class and Advisory! Please find more information regarding times and locations below.
