Principal's Update

Dear Parents,

Only two more weeks until the start of school! I hope all of our families are enjoying time with your loved ones.

In today's letter, I'd like to update the school community on the latest staffing decisions and provide additional information on some of our upcoming events. I am pleased to announce that Ms. Bethany Sargis will be our new third grade teacher, Ms. Carmen Hambric will be our new third grade remediation specialist and Mrs. Lorie Scali will be our new fifth grade remediation specialist. .

Ms. Sargis comes to STS with nine years of teaching experience, including six years as a primary grade teacher (kindergarten and third grade) and three years as a secondary school teacher. She holds a B.A. in History from Christendom College and a VCEA Teacher Certification. Ms. Sargis is also a Culinary Arts Graduate from L'Academie de Cuisine, and has worked as a personal chef and pastry chef.

Ms. Hambric is a graduate of Franciscan University of Stubenville and holeds a B.A in Psychology and Spanish. She has worked as a translator for missionaries on missions to Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and Ecuador. She has also provided individual and group counseling services and parenting mentoring to foster children and their parents.

Mrs. Lorie Scali is a long time parishioner of St. Timothy parish and has been a home school teacher for the past twenty five years. Shes holds a B.A. in Religious Education from St. Leo University and has completed course work in Special Education at the University of Virginia.

I am sad to announce, due to unforeseen circumstances, Ms. Lauren Fitzpatrick will not be joining our instructional team this year. Subsequently, will be contracting again with the Garwood program to provide our Band education services. Our new Band Director this year will be Mr. Mark Moccio. Mr. Moccio worked with the STS Band program many years ago. During his nine year tenure, working with the STS Band, the band grew to 85 members and expanded their performance schedule to include parish and local community events, in additional to their annual competitive events. Mr. Moccio is looking forward to returning to STS.

Please be sure to welcome these outstanding educators into our school community when you see them. Our new teachers will be reaching out directly to their parents in the next few weeks.

We are modifying our carpool process to gain additional efficiencies through the use of QR Codes and wand readers. Also in that mailing, we will send you the following items:

  • A health history update that will need to be completed and submitted to the clinic by the first week of school.
  • Parents will also be asked to utilize Power school to complete other school forms (demographic, emergency contact, etc.).
Important School Lunch News  -  The STS Kitchen is excited to
an nounce our new school POS vendor. We will now be using ezschoolapps.com as our new point of sale vendor. Parents will now be ordering their student lunches and adding funds to their accounts from this website. Students who were in the school this past year, will have their money and information transferred from  myschoolbucks.com . New student accounts will be established and all families will be able to sign up before the beginning of school.  Please be on the lookout for an email from the school with our new "how to" information. If you have any questions, please email our kitchen manager, Mrs. Karen Yee.

Chromebook
This is a reminder that the Chromebook pick-up date for parents of our rising 6th grade students and our new rising 7th and 8th grade students date is Friday, August 25th at 9:00 am in the school library. Parents are asked to bring a check for $100, the annual lease to buy cost for the device. Our middle school teachers will briefly discuss how they will be using the Chromebooks in their classes.

I pray that you are all enjoying your summer break and the additional time together. Thanks so much for your strong support of our amazing school, I greatly appreciate it.

schoolsuppliesbundledThe PTO has made arrangements with ClassBundl,  a company to purchase your school supplies online and have them sent directly to you!    A little something about the company,  ClassBundle was built by parents who wanted an easier way to support their students and their school.  They believe that schools and families are a team with the goal of giving kids access to everything they need for the most engaging education. But that access can be time-consuming to manage. We exist to provide opportunities for schools to simplify their processes and make life a little easier for parents
