Today's Program: The Harry Chapin Food Bank of SW Florida

Joyce Jacobs spoke to us about Harry Chapin Food Bank (HCFB). Food comes from growers, producers, distributors, retailers and through community food drives. They distribute fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, bread and other food in 5 counties to partner agencies; food pantries, soup kitchens, children's food programs, residential programs, homeless shelters, aids projects and senior programs. The agencies in turn provide food to our neighbors in need.  During the fiscal yea 2015-2016 they distributed 20.6 million pounds of food and 6.4 pounds of fresh produce for a total value of $34 million. Publix is currently holding a virtual food drive through Easter, Letter Carrier Food Drive is May 13. To learn more; or 239-334-7007.
