Garrison Fills 10,000th Bourbon Barrel  

On Monday, Hye, Texas-based Garrison Brothers Distillery, part of the first wave of small distilleries outside of Kentucky to authentically hand-produce straight bourbon whiskey, filled its 10,000th bourbon barrel. (The Drinkable Globe)  

Michigan's Long Road Distillers Releases Whiskeys Made from Local Beer

A Grand Rapids distillery is set to release a series of whiskeys in partnership with Grand Rapids breweries. Long Road Distillers will release four whiskeys made with four beers from four Grand Rapids breweries. (Grand Rapids Business Journal)

S.C. Distillers Can Now Serve Mixed Drinks

After receiving a signature Friday from South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, a new law now allows all of the state's craft distilleries to serve cocktails. Coming as welcome relief for Charleston’s distillers, who were previously restricted to serving only small tastings of straight alcohol, the new law allows mixed drinks to be served to customers. Moonshine Still a Huge Part of Eastern Tennessee Culture
Gatlinburg, Tenn.’s first jar of legal moonshine was sold July 3, 2010. Some saw the moment as a salute to independence, a shedding of antiquated laws that kept the region from telling an important part of its history. (Knox News)  

Pennsylvania Distillers Create Philly-Area Distillery Trail

Philadelphia has long been known as a craft beer town, but the city that loves you back has found a place in its heart for craft distillers. In 2011, Pennsylvania passed reforms that allowed distillers to offer tours, tastings, and onsite sales. These new laws opened the door for some of the country’s best distillers to apply their craft in a city that is an epicurean destination due to its exceptional restaurants and watering holes. Hemingway Rum Officially Opens Distillery

Hemingway Rum Company, the makers of Papa’s Pilar premium sipping rums, which were inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s spirit of adventure, officially opened its Rum Distillery & Experience Center to the public on Saturday, May 20. The new facility pays homage to the legendary adventurer who once proudly called Key West home. (The Drinkable Globe)

Brandy Peak Distillery to Close After 25 Years  

After 25 years of operation, the owners of Brandy Peak Distillery, Brookings, Ore.'s de facto tourist destination, are closing the doors and retiring. The tasting room will remain open until May 27, or until the last bottle is sold. (Curry Pilot)
