Florida Governor Vetoes Grocery Spirits Bill

Last month, the Florida state House of Representatives passed Senate bill SB106, which would allow grocers like Publix and retailers like Target to sell liquor in the same space as other items. Last week, Gov. Rick Scott vetoed the bill, keeping spirits off the shelves of retailers. (Miami New Times) 

Philly Distilleries Go All-In on Gin

There's now more gin being made in the Philadelphia region than at any time since Prohibition. That includes new craft distilleries in Manayunk and Chester County, as well as Bluecoat maker Philadelphia Distilling, which launched in 2005 and has since grown enough to upgrade to an impressive new distillery and cocktail bar in the Fishtown neighborhood this year. Minnesota Distillery, Winery & Brewery Join Forces to Create ‘Skal Crawl’

Douglas County is unique in the state of Minnesota in being able to boast producers of all three types of alcohol beverages. And, like three legs of a bar stool, the three businesses are joining forces to market the area as place to visit, sample and enjoy all three on the same day or weekend. The three businesses, Panther Distillery, Carlos Creek Winery and Copper Trail Brewing, are forming what they call the Skal Crawl beginning June 1. (Echo Press)

Eight Oaks to Release Non-GMO Bourbon

Louisville Gets New Festival, But Not for the Spirit You Think

Vermont Producer Gets OK to Build Distillery

A Vermont distillery has been given the go-ahead to build a 30,000-square-foot facility in Montpelier that's expected to create 40 jobs and be a destination for both customers and tourists. (WCAX.com)

San Diego’s Henebery Starts Producing Own Whiskey  

Jesse Fanning launched Henebery in 2013 with his wife Natalie and her family, including parents Annette and Art Johnson. While the new Henebery has exclusively sold within the San Diego market during its first four years, Fanning has been contract-distilling whiskey elsewhere. All that’s changed, as Henebery has entered the next stage of its business plan: opening a craft distillery and tasting room in Vista. (San Diego Reader)
