The McHenry County Department of Health is partnering with Greenwood Township Highway Department to provide a pre-registered, no-charge residential paint collection on May 16, 17 & 18. Latex and oil-based paint and water-based and oil-based stains from McHenry County residents will be accepted from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 5211 Miller Road in Wonder Lake . No spray paint, varnish, sealants, solvents, or chemicals will be accepted. You must call 815-334-4585 to pre-register and provide the number and size of the containers you have to recycle.

Bike to School Day
Just a reminder that Bike to School Day is next Wednesday (with a rain date of Thursday). There may be some delay in your morning or afternoon commute as the students cross the street at Winn and Main Street around 8:10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Besides being a lot of fun, biking to school is healthy for kids and families!

The 4th annual INK 5K is Thursday, May 31, at Horse Fair Park! Registration and Sponsorship information is available on their website at .

This year's Friday Night Fish Boil fundraiser at Horse Fair Park  is on June 8, starting at 5 p.m. Enjoy all-you-can-eat Boiled Cod, BBQ Chicken & Ribs (ribs $3 extra) red potatoes & onions, bread, coleslaw & dessert prepared by Fitzgerald's of Genoa City! Kid's meals available, too. Silent Auctions, Live music. All proceeds go to the upkeep and beautification of Hatchery Park.

Scout Troop 340 is very active in community service, doing projects at our parks every year. This year they cleaned up trash and started painting the fence at Thelen Park. The village thanks the scouts and their leaders for all the hard work! NJ Elite Performance, their coaches, and staff would like to wish good luck to a few of their members who are participating in a Kettlebell and Barbell Competition on Sunday, May 6 in Ravenswood.
