Q.
From a reader:
"What's an easy thing I can do to get healthier in the new year?"

A.
From Dr. Tantchou:
Making a New Year's resolution to improve your health doesn't always mean struggling to break a bad habit. One of the easiest steps you can take toward good health in the new year is simply to schedule an appointment with your primary care physician.

The start of a new year is the perfect time to make a plan for getting the checkups, preventive screenings and immunizations that can help you stay healthy.

A yearly visit with your doctor can help you prevent and recognize disease, identify any health issues before they become serious and establish personal wellness goals. An annual visit gives you a chance to talk with your doctor about your medical history, family medical history and possible health risks. Your doctor can recommend specific screenings and immunizations unique to your health needs.
one2014 Year in Review

Thank you for trusting us to care for you and your family in 2014. Throughout the past year, Washington Regional worked hard to prove its commitment to provide quality, compassionate care through expanded services and achievements like these:

  • Launched WR HealthLink patient portal.

  • Opened Advanced Neurosurgical Hybrid OR Suite, serving both endovascular and open neurosurgical cases.

With the addition of neurosurgeons Dr. Mahan Ghiassi and Dr. Mayshan Ghiassi and the new hybrid operating suite to Northwest Arkansas Neuroscience Institute, Washington Regional is the only hospital in the Northwest Arkansas region to offer patients the emerging specialty of endovascular neurosurgery

  • Opened new clinics to better serve our community's needs:

    • Mobile Dental Clinic
The 40-foot customized vehicle is a complete dentist's office that can be driven to partner sites throughout Northwest Arkansas to deliver free comprehensive dental services and preventive education to adults and youth in need.
