Randy Shinn, M.D.
Medical Director
Clinic for Senior Health

Q.
From a reader:
"I heard that the Senior Health Clinic just celebrated its
10th anniversary. What programs are available to seniors?"

A.
From Dr. Shinn:

What began with the development of the Senior Health Clinic in 2005 eventually evolved into the Pat Walker Center for Seniors, encompassing healthcare, exercise, community outreach and more:

+ Clinic for Senior Health
+ Comprehensive Primary Care
+ Memory Clinic
+ Movement Disorders Clinic
+ Cognitive Training Center
+ Center for Exercise
+ Support Groups, including groups for Dementia Caregivers and Parkinson's Disease
+ Senior Health Education Center offering monthly seminars and programs
+ Group medical visits for self-management of chronic diseases

The key to healthy aging is a healthy lifestyle, so Washington Regional offers a number of programs at the Pat Walker Center for Seniors, which is located on the hospital campus, that are designed to allow older adults to optimize their wellness and overall function. In fact, Washington Regional is one of the few hospital systems in the nation to dedicate an entire facility to senior care.

The Pat Walker Center for Seniors team consists of geriatricians, geriatric nurse practitioners, a neurologist and nurses with specialized training in the care of older adults, as well as case managers, social workers and a neuropsychologist who can offer diagnosis and treatment for memory disorders. From comprehensive primary care to transitional care after a hospitalization, our entire team is dedicated to meeting the needs of older adults.
