Youth Art Month at the Sioux City Art Center

Greetings!

The Sioux City Art Center will feature its 23rd Annual Juried Youth Art Month Exhibition: High School from February 18 - April 8, 2012.

The opening reception will be Sunday, February 19, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Mayor Bob Scott and Sioux City Community Schools Superintendant Dr. Paul Gausman will present awards at 2 p.m.

High school art teachers from 15 schools in the tri-state area submitted 486 entries, with 103 selected for exhibition. This year's juror was Nan Wilson, professor of art and art education at Briar Cliff University, Sioux City Iowa. Art Center Director, Al Harris-Fernandez, selected nine Director's Award winners. The pieces were judged on originality, creativity and excellence of workmanship.

The Art Center supports and encourages young artists to express and explore their individual creativity through the art-making process.
