OVERLAND PARK, KAN. (Aug. 5, 2014) - U.S. Youth Futsal has named the first-ever United States Youth Futsal National Teams, with players selected after a year-long identification process including regional and national camps.

 

In July, U.S. Men's National Futsal Team Head Coach Keith Tozer led a National I.D. Camp at which six 14-player rosters were selected from a pool of more than 300 invited players.

 

"Any time a young player enters an I.D. camp with so many great players from around the country ... to be selected is a great accomplishment." said Tozer, the organization's Technical Director. "Futsal as another tool in the development of our youth players and will create a more technical player which in turn can help in the tactical aspect of both futsal and football."

 

The youth national teams will travel to an international event this winter and will be coached by Tozer, Director of Goalkeeping (and USMNFT Goalkeeper Coach) Mark Litton and the U.S. Youth Futsal coaching staff.

 

"I'm very proud to be involved in the futsal movement with U.S. Youth Futsal," Tozer said. "There is such a bright future for the game of futsal as well as our outdoor programs here in the United States!"

United States Youth Futsal is the largest U.S. Soccer affiliated futsal organization in the country. Launched in 2004, U.S. Youth Futsal oversees more than 70 local leagues and hosts 8 Regional Championships and 1 National Championship.

The U.S. Youth Futsal I.D. program includes 8 Regional I.D. Camps and 1 National I.D. Camp, from which youth national teams are selected. It is led by U.S. Youth Futsal Technical Director (and USMNFT Head Coach) Keith Tozer.

The U.S. Youth Futsal Leadership Summit takes place each spring in conjunction with U.S. Men's National Futsal Team activities.
