YOUTH SOLO INSTRUMENTAL COMPETITION
*** APPLY BY MONDAY, FEB. 13! ***

Dear ,

2016 Solo Competition Winners

Do you know any young, talented, classical musicians in Grades 10-12? If so, please help us spread the news! We are holding our 3rd Annual Youth Solo Competition on Sunday, March 12 and applications are due this Monday (Feb 13). There are three generous cash awards for the winners of the competition, and to compete, we ask that they perform two short pieces from their personal repertoire. Our artistic directors Michael and Daria Adams will judge the competition and give detailed review to each performer. Teachers, mentors, family and friends are encouraged to attend a small reception after the performances to award the winners; and later in the year, we invite all three winners to a pre-concert recital at Silverado Vineyards during our Music in the Vineyards 2017 season!

Winter Concert: Sunday, February 12, 2017   |   5:00pm
VENUE CHANGE: Napa Valley Performing Arts Center, Lincoln Theater

The Napa Valley Youth Symphony's upcoming concert will feature the winners of its annual concerto competition. Justin Row will perform the first movement of Bruch's brooding first violin concerto and Sydney Cliff will perform Mozart's ebullient D major flute concerto. Beatrice Pang will perform the quirky and playful first movement of Kabalevsky's violin concerto. All three are high school students in Napa and competed against their peers for the opportunity to solo in front of the orchestra. The concert will also feature Sinfonia, NVYS's training ensemble to round out an afternoon of beautiful music-making. Learn more at: www.nvyso.org
