Zach Yoder Scores Goal In First USHL Game

Muskegon, MI- Thunder U18 Defenseman Zach Yoder signed with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL for the remainder of this season. In his first game as a Lumberjack, Zach scored Muskegon's only goal in a 2-1 loss to Green Bay. Zach's complete stat line was 1 goal, a +1 rating, 3 shots on goal, and 2 penalties minutes. - Defenseman Zach Yoder joins the team for the final 12 games of the regular season. A 6-foot-4 right-handed shooter from Woodstock, Ga., the 17-year-old Yoder scored 11 points (four goals) in 39 games for the TPH Thunder midget major club this season. Lumberjacks Head Coach Jim McKenzie was part of TPH Thunder's coaching staff prior to his arrival in Muskegon.

The Thunder AAA Hockey Club is a non-profit organization that was established in 2004 to allow players to live at home while still competing at the Tier I AAA level, against other top programs in the country. Tier I AAA hockey is national in structure, the most highly scouted and recruited youth division and produces the most players for non pay to play junior leagues such as the USHL, NAHL and CHL. Thunder Hockey offers student/athletes access to full time professional hockey coaches that work closely within the guidelines laid out by USA Hockey thru the American Development Model (ADM). All of this is done in an effort to develop student/athletes for opportunities in hockey, the classroom and life. Thunder alumni have been drafted to and/or are playing in the NHL, NCAA, USHL, NAHL, EJHL, and the OHL.
