Zainabia Islamic Education Center will commemorate the supreme sacrifice offered by the beloved Grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Leader of Martyrs, Imam Hussein (A.S.) and his companions for the sake of Islam on the plains of Karbala. The Majalis program will start on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. Sheikh Afzal Hussein Merali will address the gathering on the significance of Imam Hussein's (A.S.) supreme sacrifice in English. Program will start with Magribain prayers as follows.

About the Speaker:
Sheikh Afzal Hussein Merali started his Hawza studies in Lebanon, where he studied for 10 years. About two year ago he moved to Qum, Iran to further his studies. He is finishing his MA in Islamic Jurisprudence and its principles, and starting with Dars-e-Kharij.
He has appeared on many Arabic and English TV shows. He has written and produced many TV Islamic programs and documentaries. These included, the program "Women", this program is now aired from London; "History of Islam", a 108 episodes program, 1 hour each, about the history of Islam, from before the birth of the Holy Prophet (SAWS), till the greater occultation of the 12th Imam (A.S.), and our modern times; A 30-episode program called the "Ramadhan - Name of Allah", diving into spiritual issues related to this holy month. He also translated documentaries such as, "The Path to Immortality", a 3-episode program documenting the path of Ahlul Bayt (A.S.), after they were taken captives from Karbala, charting their journey all the way to Damascus, Yazid's court. He was a permanent guest on the IBN TV show, titled: Values of Ashura, in which he talked about the values that Imam Hussein (A.S.) sought to revive in his uprising, like Amr Bil Maaruf, responsibility against tyrants, giving in the way of Allah (SWT) etc.
He has authored a booklet about the life of the Gnostic, Sayyed Ali al-Qadhi, teacher of Sheikh Bahjat (May Allah bless them both) in Gnosticism (Irfan). Currently, he is translating a book on Deductional jurisprudence, for Al-Mustapha University in Qum. This is a 2 volume book showing how Jurists and Maraje deduce the different rulings from their detailed sources, i.e. different verses, respective Ahadith, principles of jurisprudence, sciences of hadith and narrators etc. It is in response to the problems we are facing in the Western world from certain figures who are currently calling to a concept that there is no need to refer to Maraje and Taqlid, we can understand our Ahkaam our self.
