Zentangle Sharing
Here is a small sampling of Zentangle-inspired creativity and inspiration from all over this world:
Hello Rick and Maria,
I've just had the most amazing experience giving my five-year-old daughter her first official Zentangle lesson. She loves to draw and make up stories and has amazing focus for her age. We have experimented with some tangles in the past, and I frequently talk to her about how Zentangle makes me calmer, happier, and a better mommy. During a mommy-daughter getaway, I seized the opportunity to try a lesson.
She loved the entire process including the dots and border. She chose the letter A for her string and enjoyed practicing
tipple,
knightsbridge, and
msst. She selected triangles for the last space, so we experimented with
tripoli.
My daughter, like me, is a perfectionist. I loved that when a line went wonky, she said,
"That's okay. There are no mistakes in Zentangle."
While looking at both of our pieces, she said,
"They might not look the same, but they have the same amount of beautiful in them." Out of the mouth of babes!
Thank you, not only for gracing my life with Zentangle, but also for providing us with a truly special family memory and a delightful hobby to share together for many years to come. Who knows? Maybe she will attend a CZT seminar someday!
Best,
E

Dear Rick, Maria & team,
We team up about 20 CZTs in Taiwan to exhibit in a government owned exhibition center.
The center paid all the exhibition expenses and CZTs contributed about 700 pieces artworks.
The exhibition space is around 4,000 square feet.
During the exhibition, there're 3 make-and-take tables for visitors to play with the tangles. They can hang their artworks in an area to exhibit with us too.
Here's some photos to share with you! Some of the CZTs took a photo together before the ZIA
wall to say hello
to you all.
With our best regards,
Laura Liu, CZT -

Thank you all so much for sharing the gift of Zentangle with me at the CZT seminar. I returned to my former life and felt like I was floating and dreaming for days after. My journey in Providence unleashed a torrent of creative energy that I can barely hold back. Words do no justice in expressing my appreciation and gratitude, but perhaps this picture will:
I literally and symbolically threw away my eraser.
Thank you,

HI, Rick and Maria:
I have been a Zentangle fan for three years now. My primary hobby is teaching about and making traditional hand hooked rugs, when I am not working. I find that tangling is great cross training for my craft. I love the patterns, and am thrilled with how my drawing skills have improved. I have much more confidence about my compositions and am now designing my own rugs, which I don't think I would have done without the Zentangle practice. I also love falling into the "zone" when I am working on a Zentangle tile. I took a class from a local CZT last year and really enjoyed it.
I am sending a picture of my ZIA in the form of a 16 inch mat, hand hooked with wool fabric that has been cut into strips.
There were two particular ways I challenged myself with this piece. The first was to figure out how to translate little tiny pen lines into 3/16" wool strips and to anticipate in advance how to shade the piece.
The second was to hook a rug in true Zentangle fashion by drawing the patterns directly onto the backing without pre-planning it. I drew in about ¾'s of the patterns before I started hooking. I waited to see how the hooking looked before I filled in the last couple of spaces. I used shisha mirrors, buttons and a bit of sparkly yarn for embellishment, none of which show up very well in the picture.
With gratitude

Dear sir/madam,
During my PhD project in educational assessment and mathematics education, I discovered Zentangle as a way of relaxation, stress relief and even a method of improving my concentration. If I am mentally distracted by the work load of that day, I start my day with a short (e.g., 20 minute) Zentangle session and notice I am much better concentrated during the day. So lI wish to express my gratitude for your invention of the Zentangle method! I can truly say it has improved the quality of my life ;)
With kind regards,
JV
