President & CEO

According to the Centers for Disease Control, after cancer and heart disease, suicide accounts for more years of life lost than any other cause of death.  For Americans aged 10-34, suicide is the second leading cause of death and for Americans aged 35-64, it's the fourth leading cause of death.  So why does this massive public health crisis in the United States receive little to no attention particularly when suicide is 100% preventable?...

Lily Was Coping By Cutting Herself

Sometimes, the caregivers also need help.

Patricia's 14-year-old daughter, Lily, was experiencing severe anxiety that impeded her ability to socialize and develop positive relationships. First, Lily withdrew from the loving people in her life and then she found a new group who were harming themselves through "cutting."

When Lily expressed she was having thoughts of suicide, Patricia knew she had to act quickly....

SpeakUp5K: Raising Awareness about Teen Mental Health

Cameron Gallagher
Cameron Gallagher had a dream to start a 5K race to raise awareness about teen depression and anxiety.  Tragically, Cameron's heart failed as she crossed the finish line of a half-marathon in the spring of 2014, and she passed away.

Today, her family and friends are honoring her life and her vision through the CKG Foundation and the SpeakUp5K.  The event raises awareness and funds for the Healthy Transitions program, which helps local teens and young adults connect to mental health resources and support.

The SpeakUp5K will be Saturday morning, Oct. 22, at Al Lopez Park in Tampa.  To register to run as an individual or team, click HERE.
