Zion's Midweek E- Update April 12, 2017
The Season of Lent
Zion Lutheran Church Ann Arbor
Midweek E-Update
April's Focus statement
"Resurrection means the worst thing is never the last thing." - Fred Buechner
Connecting with this week's Gospel:

On this day the Lord has acted! On the first day of the week God began creation, transforming darkness into light. On this, the “eighth day” of the week, Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. We celebrate this new creation in the waters of baptism and in the feast of victory. With great joy we celebrate this day of days, even as we begin the great fifty days of Easter. Filled with hope, we go forth to share the news that Christ is risen.

HOLY WEEK SCHEDULE
  • Wednesday Chapel : noon with lunch
  • Maundy Thursday: noon- foot washing, individual absolution & communion, 7pm- individual absolution, altar stripping & "Memories in the Garden" drama
  • Good Friday: noon- The Way of the Cross (14 stations), 7pm- Tenebrae with choirs & choral scholars
  • Easter Vigil: 7 pm- preaching by Pr. Vicky & choral praises to our Risen Lord

LUTHER FUN FACT
In the early decades of the Reformation, there were many theological controversies. One of Luther's frequent opponents was the Swiss theologian Zwingli. Once citing a passage from the Bible to prove a point, Zwingli said to Luther, "This passage breaks your neck." Luther retorted,  "Don't be too proud. German necks do not break that easily. This is Hesse, not Switzerland."
