ZION SDC 2018
News and Events
that you don't want to miss!
Dear Zion Summer Day Camp Parents,
As the sun sets on our Summer Day Camp, we want to thank you parents. Thank you for trusting us with your whole world, because we know that’s what you handed us – your whole world, and your trust along with it, and I along with my staff are grateful.
You should know, we think your kids are the coolest. With all their quirks and their gifts and their challenges and their unique qualities, we are lucky to be with your kids daily, and we’re glad to be their friends here at Zion.
With our theme “JESUS IS OUR SUPERHERO” we talked about other HEROES from the bible and how we can use their stories to help us in our daily lives. We used these qualities everyday with our fellow campers here at Zion, but also out on our field trips. Your camp kids showed the best Christian behavior with those from other camps and schools, and my staff heard only positive and glowing remarks about our ZION kids.
Some of our favorite moments this summer were our Rock Star skits (with dance moves), making chocolate chip cookies, water days with the epic 20’ waterslide, SUPERHERO RESCUE game and of course, the End of Summer Carnival with games , snow cones, popcorn, treats and the 60’ obstacle course that all the kids (even the staff kids), loved. Memories were made and will be cherished forever.
What I and my staff want you to know, though, is this. With Jesus as Our SUPERHERO, you parents are our heroes. Your kids are amazing and they change us. They make us better. They show us the heart of God, and we are grateful.
In His Name,
Amy Jacobson and Your Kids’
Summer Day Camp Staff

thrift shop
Zion Thrift Shop is in need of volunteers. We have a job to suit just about everyone! If you have 2-3 hours or more a week to donate your time and talents, we are the place for you! Do you like books? Our book department could use your expertise! Are you a clothes, purse or shoe girl? We have a need in those departments as well. Can you drive a truck and lift furniture? We need you! Do you have great organizational skills? Our sales floor needs constant attention and we need assistance sorting incoming merchandise. Our proceeds go to supporting Zion Lutheran Church and Schools. We also serve the community by offering gently used merchandise at reasonable prices. Our store also supports homeless ministries with clothing and other household goods, and a German Sheppard rescue with towels and blankets to keep the dogs warm on cold nights:)
Come check us out at
or call 714-879-1147 and ask for the manger, Michele Brown,
