Just released: regulations for the federal child care law!
BIG NEWS: The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) just released the final regulation to direct states in the implementation of the Child Care and Development Block Grant ( CCDBG) law. This is a big important step!

CCDBG is family child care's gateway in the states: for recognition of your role as professionals, for building the supply of care for families who are counting on us, for supporting basic regulation, and for advancing quality from a strong foundation. This is why the policies and investments that drive CCDBG are a priority for NAFCC advocacy!

QUICK BACKGROUND: In 2014, Congress renewed the federal child care law for the first time in 18 years. Since the passage of that law, we've all been hard at work to make sure that the ideas get put into action, with an understanding of the importance of family child care. And, we've been working to make sure the voices of providers are heard!   In December 2015, the Administration for Children and Families released a proposed regulation to direct states in the implementation of the CCDBG law. Thanks to the advocacy teamwork of state family child care associations and all of our provider members, NAFCC submitted comments to reflect the crucial role of family child care and the details of the day-to-day experience of providers like you.

WHAT'S NEXT: We're reviewing the final regulation and will report to NAFCC members with details and action steps! We're continuing to press for smart investments in child care, because in addition to details and policy direction, states and providers also need dollars to put the ideas into action. This week, we'll also be connecting with state agency leaders at a convening of state child care administrators. We're thrilled that one of the big sessions at the convening is all about family child care!
