Ping Hu

Ping Hu joined Mirick O'Connell as a partner and chair of its Intellectual Property Group. Ping has extensive experience in a broad range of IP practice areas, including patent/trademark prosecution and portfolio management, patent post-grant proceedings before USPTO, patent litigation and arbitration, trade secret investigation and litigation, patent monetization and licensing, and IP transaction and due diligence. Ping's IP experience extends beyond the U.S. and into foreign jurisdictions, such as Europe and China. He is also fluent in Mandarin.
Prior to joining Mirick O'Connell, Ping was an attorney at Mintz Levin in Boston and earlier at WilmerHale in Boston. Prior to his legal career, he worked as a software engineer with Polycom, Inc., where he designed and developed audio/video conference systems and applications.

Aastha Sharma

Aastha Sharma is an associate in the Firm's Business Group where she focuses her practice on corporate finance, securities regulation, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, venture capital, and early stage investment transactions.
Aastha has counseled various banking and financial companies on sophisticated corporate and securities transactions. She has experience drafting and negotiating various transactional documents including private placement memorandums, agreements with registered intermediaries, portfolio management agreements, investment advisory agreements and legal opinions.
Prior to joining the Firm, Aastha was with Shoffner & Associates in Boston, MA. A native of India, Aastha received her law degree from Government Law College and thereafter worked at a boutique financial law firm, specializing in capital markets. She then received her LL.M. in Business and Commercial Law from Boston College Law School in 2013. She is fluent in Hindi.

Benjamin Byun

Ben is an associate in the Firm's Trusts and Estates Group. He focuses his practice in estate planning, estate and trust administration, guardianships and conservatorships, and elder law. Prior to joining Mirick O'Connell, Ben was an associate at a trusts and estates boutique firm in the greater Boston area.
Ben assists clients with the preparation of wills, trusts, health care proxies, durable powers of attorney, and MassHealth applications. He works with individuals and families to protect assets, reduce estate taxes, and efficiently carry out their testamentary intentions. He also advises personal representatives, trustees and other fiduciaries on the legal aspects of administering complex estates and trusts including contested probates, preparation of estate tax returns, and post-mortem tax planning.
