Delivering a World of Health and Hope .
Supplies Over Seas (SOS) is a Louisville, Kentucky-based nonprofit organization that meets critical health care needs in medically impoverished communities around the world by collecting and distributing surplus medical supplies and equipment.

Greater Louisville Medical Society Alliance (GLMSA) toured Supplies Over Seas to see our mission in action. SOS is grateful for our long partnership with GLMSA.

Did you know SOS Supplies Over Seas (SOS) was founded in 1993 by Dr. Norton Waterman and members of the Greater Louisville Medical Society (GLMS) as a response to the waste created by Louisville’s medical system.

“Perfectly good bandages, cloth operating gowns, towels and sutures were being thrown out. Good instruments were discarded because of recent improvements, regulations or changes in popularity.” - Dr. Waterman

Humana Team's
Band-Aide Raid
Benefits SOS Mission

Wendy Lott,  Administrative Coordinator to Brett Trelfa, Vice President, IT

Throughout December, Humana’s Application Engineering & Architecture Management team hosted a Band Aid Raid to benefit Supplies Over Seas.  This was a part of our well-being initiative to increase awareness of purpose and belonging in our lives by giving to others.

Although Band-Aids are a small item to us, to someone in need it could mean the world and make a big difference in their care and recovery.

Humana inspires their associates to “help people achieve lifelong well-being – living happily with a balanced sense of purpose, belonging, security and health.”

SOS would like to thank the good folks at Humana on the Application Engineering & Architecture Management Team for collecting Band-Aides.
These band-aides will help to heal wounds in medically impoverished communities.

This idea of a band-aide raid came to this team after their group volunteered at SOS.  Team members reported that their experience at SOS was an excellent team-building opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to promoting health.  This team hopes to return to SOS in the near future.
