Hospice Tree of Life December 4th christmas_tree_red_gold.jpg
Hospice of North Iowa invites you to remember your loved ones or honor those living with a light on the Tree of Life. With your special gift to Hospice, a light will be placed on the Tree of Life. Names of those you wish to remember and honor will be listed at each tree lighting service you specify. Your contributions to the Tree of Life will help extend hospice care to others, so they can live the last months of their lives with dignity, often in the comfort of their own home.
The tree lighting ceremony in Charles City will be at St. John on
December 4th at 6:00 p.m.
Prayer Shawls to deliver
In this season of joy and celebration of our Savior's birth, lets not forget people that are going through difficulties.  There are quite a few shawls and lap robes that could be taken to those folks.  Just go to the church office and Kathy can help you get from from their storage totes.  Then don't forget to take the card that goes with them which shows our love and support.
It's also a good time of year to make some more during these cold dark evenings.  The need is always there so please keep this in mind when you need a project.   Free yarn is available in the clothing room to make them.  It can also be used to make hats and mittens for Coats for Kids next year.   When done drop them off in the office.
Soup Dinner
The Youth will be holding a Soup Dinner on December 10th at 11:20 am in the Parish Hall.
We will be serving chili, potato soup, and chicken noodle soup along with dinner rolls. Plan on feeding the whole family here after the Christmas Program! All free will donations given at this
event will go to the St. John accounts of the youth working at this event to put toward mission trips, Bible Camp, etc.
Christmas Treats Fundraiser
By Women's Ministry
December 10th before, in between & after worship.
We have expanded the menu of goodies that we are looking for.
Wanted: Donations of candy, cookies, caramel corn, etc. (basically your favorite holiday treat) will need to be at the church by 9:00 a.m. December 9th and will be sorted into tasty plates for the sale. Help is needed on the 9th to sort and also the day of the sale. Please contact Kathy in the office if you can help.
Funds from this ministry traditionally have been used toward large purchases in the church, especially the kitchen area or for a special need in the congregation.

Homes for Haiti needs vitamins
"Our upcoming mission trip to Haiti begins on December 29.  We are on the home stretch and are hoping for one more thing to assist us in meeting our goals.  We have a pressing need for children's vitamins.  With 100 children at the orphanage and vi siting medical clinics, we will need many vitamins to distribute.  The children at Imagine Missions only receive 2 meals daily and protein 3 times weekly, so vitamins are essential to their health.  Children living in the community have even less.  During this holiday season, please consider donating children's vitamins.  A collections box will be in the narthex to hold these donations or they can be dropped off at the church office.  We will take all donations with us and we can assure you they go where you intend-to the children of Haiti.  Thanks in advance for your help and your generosity.  Blessings to all of you during this holiday season."
