Many of you have seen this picture on social media over the last couple of days but if not I wanted to share it here.  This is the Dining hall at Camp Grimes of the Mecklenburg County Council (Charlotte, NC).  I woke up the morning after high school graduation and drove to Camp Grimes for a week of National Camp School for  Ecology/Conservation.  It's been a long time since 1991 but still fond memories.  I'll share any fundraising announcements  from the council that are forthcoming if you are willing to support rebuilding.
Vintage Boy Scout Memorabilia Up First
Got a phone call from a Scouter out west this week that is looking to part with a collection that is mostly rank patches.  Looks like this guy and his son put together a pretty good set of frames but like many he was missing most of the heavy hitters.  Doesn't that kinda describe a lot of our collections.  We are 90% finished but getting that last 10% is just impossible.

One my patch projects that I'm slowly working on is making Boxware frames for each big national event.  I have a collection of Jamboree stuff in notebooks but now I'm remaking that into just a single frame for each event that I can then use as part of a historical display. I hope to do that with lots of other topics to have a broad representative collection.

There is a Facebook Group just for displays and historical preservation.  I've used it for inspiration and to get and share ideas about how to put together frames.  I hope more people will share pictures of their collections in that group as I think collectors need to be more proactive promoting the hobby.

This week on eBay I've got a lot of Jamboree sets from 2005 and other years.  These are all parts of a consignment that I am selling off for a CA collector.  One of the nicest things he has sent me to sell is a 1st Edition hardback handbook.  It's hard to know how to value this one as it does have a spine repair so I am running it at auction to see what the market will pay.  I don't collect Scout books myself so I'm curious to see what it will do.
Tonight I'm doing one of the most painful things in Scouting.  I'm going to a cookie manager training in Charlotte.  Sometimes you have to take one for the team and since I can't be at the Girl Scout meetings my wife and I have offered to help with the cookie sale.  You wouldn't believe the bureaucracy involved in cookie sales so I hope I can keep my sanity.

Yours in Scouting,

Make plans now to attend the return of a tradition that's been missing for too long - the Charlotte TOR.  I'm helping organize the show as a fundraiser for Pack 33 at Sardis Presbyterian Church in Charlotte.  We couldn't have a more supportive host.  The church just celebrated 75 years of Scouting including sponsoring two troops and a pack.  The show is being held in the 8,000+ square foot fellowship hall.  We have ample parking and many amenities in this part of Charlotte.
