Looks like my 1 hour a week might be getting a little longer.  Last night I was asked to serve as the Chairmen of the Camping Committee for my daughters Girl Scout service unit in Charlotte (District in BSA language).  Just when I thought I had stayed under the radar.  One of my missions has been to motivate the Girl Scouts to go camping when I was a troop leader.  My wife has been on me about this very topic since we moved to Charlotte so I guess this is my door to doing something about it.
Vintage Boy Scout Memorabilia Up First
Over the next two weekends just about every OA lodge in my part of the country is having a Spring event.  For some lodges is a Pow Wow but most call it their Spring Fellowship.  I've secured a kitchen pass to bug out for the entire weekend (if you count coming home at the crack of dawn Sunday to make church).  The work project list includes roofing which is one of the projects that I remember my dad took part in at our camp.  So when I'm on top of a building Saturday hammering nails I'll look up and smile.

You can get a copy of the flier if you need more information.
Order of the Arrow Auctions Live on eBay
In getting ready for the Trade-O-Ree one of the things I've been experimenting with is how to display neckerchief slides.  A tip on Facebook led me to order a sample from a company that makes something called a Clip Strip. You actually see these in stores where they hang bags of chips and other snack items on the aisle or by the register.  If I do a Facebook Live video this week I'll be sure to show it to everyone because you kinda have to see it to understand.
Scouting Auctions Ending Soon on eBay
Good news on the Cincinnati Ohio collection.  A scouter that I talked to on the phone was able to easily figure out who the collection belonged to.  Now normally this might raise some issues but he understood that the family was not easy to deal with and even though the collection took a trip down to North Carolina the bulk of the local stuff is now headed back home.  Sometimes the Internet still amazes me that out of all the people in this country you can really make it a small world again.

Tonight on eBay I've got a lot of Jamboree Shoulder Strips ending from the 2005 Jambo.  Also live for bids are some neat World Jamboree JSPs from 1983 and 1987.  One can only imagine the memorabilia that will be dreamed up for the event at the Summit in 2019.

I went to my antique mall booth yesterday and filmed a short video to promote the Charlotte TOR.  While there my son Patrick wanted to get on camera so I let him ham it up for a minute. This is an unlisted video that the rest of the world can't see but it's kinda cute so I thought I'd share it with loyal readers who got all the way to the bottom of the Hot Finds.

Yours in Scouting,

Make plans now to attend the return of a tradition that's been missing for too long - the Charlotte TOR.  I'm helping organize the show as a fundraiser for Pack 33 at Sardis Presbyterian Church in Charlotte.  We couldn't have a more supportive host.  The church just celebrated 75 years of Scouting including sponsoring two troops and a pack.  The show is being held in the 8,000+ square foot fellowship hall.  We have ample parking and many amenities in this part of Charlotte.
