This picture of a 1946 Eagle Scout kinda took me surprise.  I knew the BSA used ribbon medals but I've never seen one with this many.  Luckily I turned to that great resource known as the Scout Patch Collectors Facebook Group for an answer.  The veterans chimed in that many of these were probably contest medals (of which some of his regular medals are).  I only knew that there was one for Eagle Scout and never even knew this was something handed out for winning a contest.  The other comment theorized that that BSA dropped this after the war because it made the uniform look too militarized.  I've been at this for 35+ years and still can learn something new.
Vintage Scouting Auctions Live on eBay
It's not very often that as an eBay seller you come across things that never recorded a sale all those years that John Pannell was tracking things on his OA images website.  Not only did I hit upon some of that with a collection I bought this week but I also picked up a chapter activity patch that was never included in the Blue Book.  They are on eBay now so we will see what the KY collectors think.

I am experimenting with a giant printer/scanner that can fit 15 OA flaps for example in one scan.  One of my Tiger Den moms had it in a closet and she's letting me try it out to see if it works for me.  The only funky thing is sometimes you lay down a bunch of patches and it will make the entire area one large scan and other times it till try and pop out individual scans of each patch with one press of the button.  Problem is I can't figure out how to tell it which one I want.  Technology!
Auctions Ending Soon With Bids on eBay
Today me and the kids are making a road trip back to Lumberton (2.5 hours) to attend our old troop's Spring awards banquet.  Four of the girls that I had in the troop have finished up their Silver Award.  We are hoping to surprise them with our attendance and check on the old troop which still seems to be chugging along.

Over on eBay I've got 250+ live auctions running right now including a bunch of OA two-piece sets and many items from Kentucky.  Tonight I've got a couple of really special pieces to crank up for a 7-day auction that I'm selling on consignment for a family.  These are a couple of the big medals but I don't want to spoil the surprise so stay tuned.
The back of my SUV is jammed packed with items that need to go to the antique mall.  It looks like our cleaning lady is coming Monday so that will be a good day for me to clear out and spend the day stocking the shelves over at The Sleepy Poet

Your brother in the cloth,
