I can scratch a few things off my Scouting bucket list this weekend.  I've added another Scout camp that I've spent the weekend at and one that I doubt many of BSA brethren can claim. For the trip to Savannah we stayed at Camp Low which overlooks a beautiful salt marsh.  Yesterday we toured the Juliette Gordon Low House in downtown Savannah.  I discovered they had a big modern jacket patch for sale in the gift shop and I got one to sew on my fleece Girl Scout jacket.  I the thread head in me couldn't resist!

This trip we had 20 Juniors and Cadettes along with a dozen adults.  Saturday was the monster day with a dolphin cruise (turned out great) and the night cap was a ghost tour of Savannah that the girls ate up.  Not exactly the same itinerary as perhaps the Boy Scouts would have chosen but it was fun being a tourist with my daughter and her friends.

Sophia had a good time cooking up our dinner Friday night over the grill.  This was the troops first time really doing a serious camping trip so everything was not a well oiled machine but we made the girls do the work and they enjoyed jumping in and doing the work.  Saturday morning they cooked about four pounds of breakfast meat and none of it went to waste.
Auctions Ending Soon With Bids on eBay
The Thread Head in me got excited when I spotted this patch in a display during the tour.  It might not look like much but this is one of the original Girl Scout proficiency badges that Juliette Gordon Low brought back to the USA from England to help kick start the advancement program in the first years of the program.  These are extremely tough to find today and I've only ever seen a handful.

I have auctions ending soon on eBay including a bunch of flaps and JSPs.  My goal is to get the store up to 9,000 items by the end of the month but since I'm also running a sale in the store it's sorta like walking on a treadmill to hit that goal.
I think lots of memories were made this weekend with the Girls and some parent bonding was kindled as well.  When you are sitting around the campfire roasting marsh mellows it's always a good time to chat and get to know each other better.  I have scratched this trip off my bucket list and now I'll look forward to the Girl Scout Jamboree in July.

Your brother in the cloth,
