Friday Morning Edition
March 24, 2017

I know this has happened to some of you before.  You get asked to come to a troop meeting or at a Scouting event to put on a "patch collecting" class.  That's a pretty daunting task and it was my assignment this week.  Further down you can find a link to Episode #79 of my podcast to hear the audio of my spin on that talk.
Vintage eBay Boy Scout Auctions This Weekend
Late last night I went to the drawing board with my Charlotte TOR floor plan.  I kept getting phone calls and a couple checks in the mail for people wanting tables.  Fortunately we sold out over a month ago but how do you turn down good folks in the hobby.  You don't!  So I started playing Jenga with the tables to see if I could squeeze everyone in.  So after adding 7 more tables I was able to work in several new collectors.

I face a dilemma tonight that intersects 2 of my passions.  My original plans were to drive up to the NC Girl Scout Collectors Show for a few hours and walk around with my daughter and possibly one of her troop mates.  Then my alma mater decided to bust everyone's brackets and end up in the Sweet 16 for the first time.  Even my wife wants us to all sit on the couch tonight and watch a basketball game together as a family.  Folks that has never happened!  She doesn't even watch the Super Bowl.  So I might be wearing Garnet and Black tonight and rooting on the SC Gamecocks versus Baylor instead of chatting with the ladies at the GS show.

Do any of you have a trade-o-ree freak out (my wife's term) the week before an event.  You want to get everything organized for your tables and just right.  I'm messing with uniforms, putting OA patches in albums, figuring out a way to display mugs and neckerchief slides - yep it's a patch freak out!

Have you ever been asked to give a "patch collecting" class at a Scouting event?  Here is my take on that assignment.

This is my relist week for eBay auctions.  Over the course of March I had accumulated probably 200+ auctions that didn't sell the first go around so I've relaunched them for one more run on eBay.
I'm running a Facebook ad right now for the Charlotte TOR.  It's a 15 second "commercial" for the show targeting people who live within 50 miles of Charlotte that are involved in Scouting.  According to Facebook that's just under 10k people.  So far 991 people have seen the ad and about 2/3 watched the video for at least 3 seconds which I guess Facebook thinks is significant.  This is all kinda an experiment but I'll share my results with other TOR organizers if it looks like this helped drive out traffic.
Have a great weekend,
