Last night I had the opportunity to do a class on patch collecting at a troop meeting in Charlotte.  This was for 1 of the troops sponsored at the church that is hosting the Trade-O-Ree.  It's been a long time since I've done something like that and the boys seemed to enjoy it.  I recorded the audio so I can use it in my podcast airing tomorrow night.

I got a very helpful PowerPoint from Tripp Clark for a class that he created with input from others.  However, whereas his was a little more of the "how" to collect patches my talk leaned towards the "why".  Facing an audience of Generation Z (did you you know that's what anyone born since 1996 is called) I tried to spark an interest there.

Soon after publishing today's newsletter I'm going to polish up and launch a Facebook Ad campaign to get folks living within 100 miles of Charlotte to come to the show.  All the serious collectors have heard about the event but I'm hoping that through some targeted Facebook ads I can reach the regular Scouters that don't know.
Scouting Auctions Ending Soon on eBay
My son Patrick sat in on the class.  During the early part I rolled out my personal campfire blanket that has all the patches I've earned and events attended.  Instead of being impressed with the badges he blurts out "is that blanket soft?". Patrick has a thing about blankets so his interest was in whether it would be good for sleeping.

With 10 days to go before the TOR I'm still launching new auctions up on eBay.  I'm going to be burning the candle late into the night for the next several days trying to get everything ready.
This weekend there is a Girl Scout Collector's Show in Conover, North Carolina.  If you have an interest reach out to me and I'll be glad to point you in the right direction.  There is also a Facebook event that has all the details.

Yours in Scouting,

Make plans now to attend the return of a tradition that's been missing for too long - the Charlotte TOR.  I'm helping organize the show as a fundraiser for Pack 33 at Sardis Presbyterian Church in Charlotte.  We couldn't have a more supportive host.  The church just celebrated 75 years of Scouting including sponsoring two troops and a pack.  The show is being held in the 8,000+ square foot fellowship hall.  We have ample parking and many amenities in this part of Charlotte.
