Chinese University Honors New Partnership With Visit to University of Miami
On January 9, representatives from Henan University, one of the oldest universities in China, visited the University of Miami (UM) to celebrate the creation of the $1 million Henan University Endowed Professorship Fund in the College of Engineering (CoE) Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. >>

Lab on a Chip: Personalized Cancer Diagnosis and Therapeutics

Dr. Onur Tigli, an associate professor at the University of Miami College of Engineering’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is developing cancer diagnosis technology at the micron scale, which is currently funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). >>

Smart Energy for Smart Cities

Dr. Nurcin Celik, an associate professor in the College of Engineering’s Department of Industrial Engineering, has been researching “smart energy for smart cities,” which includes electric utility resource planning, grid management and control, and demand side management. >>

Students Developing Drone to Fly Unmanned Search and Rescue Missions
The NASA Florida Space Grant Consortium will fund research by a student team in the University of Miami College of Engineering’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The team will develop and build an autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) that will fly search and rescue missions. >>
