Sunday Service/Volunteer Schedule

Greetings!

The excitement of the Bishop's January 2 visit with its baptisms, confirmations, receptions and commissionings is over now. Last Sunday's worship led by Fr. Hufford was a peaceful contrast, your editor thought.

Over the next five days, we'll have two healing services at Grace.

Tonight (Wednesday) we have our regular monthly Celebration of Wholeness Healing with several modes of healing all accompanied by drumming led by Bob Laake. There are plenty of drums to go around, to give everyone who wants a chance to join in.

GRACE'S WALKS AND PARKING LOT WILL BE CLEAR OF SNOW IN TIME FOR THIS SERVICE.

Sunday
's worship is also a Celebration of Wholeness and Healing in a more traditional form. You can read a short sermon explaining the relationship of this service to our usual Sunday morning Eucharist here.

Healing Service Tonight (Wednesday)

Please join us tonight at Grace Church for another blessed evening of love, drumming, and healing.

Drumming starts around 6:30. There is a short liturgy around 7:00 and then everyone offers their gifts to touch and bless one another. All are welcome.

Join us whenever you can. People come and go as their schedules allow throughout the evening. We typically end a little after 10.

This week we will hold World Peace as a special intention. So even if you can not join us, please pray for peace and harmony for all!

Bring your drums and/or any instruments you desire. Come and join us!

Blessings and love fill your heart and mind!

Thanks to Hawley Todd for this article.

Comments on the Bishop's Visitation

Junior Warden Wanda Miller wrote Bishop Breidenthal:

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Yesterday certainly was a special service for us. The people from Grace who were baptized felt the service was special and meaningful to them. Hawley Todd and our Worship Committee did a stellar job of putting the service together with your guidance. Thank you also for remembering Jim Edgy.

The brunch following brought us even closer. I am glad that you were happy with not having a head table. You truly are, as your stool says, "a Bishop of the people."

We appreciated your words to us at the Mission Council gathering in the parlor. I especially took away the advice that our "family" group not become impenatrable.

We truly appreciated your visit. It was a very special day for us.

Bishop Breidenthal responded:

Thanks so much, Wanda. It was uplifting to be at Grace. I know you are all struggling against tremendous odds, but the Holy Spirit was clearly among you yesterday, and I am so grateful for your verve and openness to the future.

Service Participant Schedule Posted

... Bob Jones who fretted and fussed because he was afraid the snow would block the stairs and walks and that the floors would be dirty. He kept everything looking good.

... those who gave and those who arranged the flowers.

... the choir who practiced and practiced and to our volunteer choir members.

... the worship committee who put out bulletin after bulletin.

Hawley Todd to Conduct Healing Workshop at National Convention

Hawley ToddHawley Todd's proposal for a workshop at the national conference of the Episcopal Health Ministries has been accepted. The conference will be held in Burlingame, California, this May 19 -21.

Hawley's topic is:  An Oasis of Healing: Healing Touch. He describes the workshop as follows:

Healing Ministries in churches are expanding beyond traditional healing services and parish nurse programs.  This workshop will delineate how a parish may position itself as a center for healing and wholeness.  It will use examples and models from programs that have been developed in Roman Catholic and Episcopal settings to shown how the Healing Touch Program can become a cornerstone in this endeavor.

Objective 1: To encourage participants to explore ways to create healing centers in local churches that move beyond healing services and current parish nurse programs.

Objective 2: To provide templates and step by step guidelines for how one might create an oasis of healing in one's church.

Says Hawley, "God works in marvelous and mysterious ways."

Web Site and eGraceNotes Also Help Spread the Word

Our website had at least 150 different visitors last week, most of whom had not previously visited our site. Research tells us that the internet is now the most common way that people seek out a church to visit, so we try to make our site represent Grace honestly and well to people who don't yet know us.

We now have 140 subscribers to eGraceNotes, of whom you are one. Our subscribers are people who already have had some contact with Grace Church, and we use this medium to keep folks uptodate on what's happening at Grace.
eGraceNotes is published every week or two or three. Our primary purpose is to help keep members and friends of Grace Church up-to-date on what's happening at Grace.

While we try our best to represent the Grace Church congregation, opinions expressed here are not necessarily those of anyone other than the editor (and perhaps not even his!).

The content of eGraceNotes depends on what news is provided us. Thus, the fact that something appears or doesn't appear in eGraceNotes is more likely a matter of whether or not someone provided information to publish rather than editorial bias. Send news that you think would be interesting to eGraceNotes@GraceCollegeHill.org.

Photos in eGraceNotes are often edited to remove extraneous material.
