A Message from Mrs. Anderson
Dear Families,

Our year has swiftly come to an end and like our students all on  staff anxiously look forward to summer break. I am sure all families feel the same way thinking ahead to the enjoyment of a lack of rushing to school in the morning and the multitude of after school activities which filled each day. Summer is definitely the time to allow more “gracious space” in our lives.
As always, I feel blessed to have been working with the OLG students but I fully recognize the important role of each of you parents. I read a quote recently that said, “wonder is the beginning of knowledge.” I hope and pray that our students have experienced a love of learning and a foundation for a lifetime of wisdom and knowledge. I am grateful for the teachers and staff who have taught our students to really live by experiencing the joy of friendship, the delight and wonder of learning and the understanding we are made in the image and likeness of God. Our schools, like every good and perfect thing, come from the Lord.
May each of your families be blessed with more time to enjoy each other during our summer break.Though we live in an age of technology, our children are sorely in need of wonder and less screen activities. They need to experience the world with its sunshine, music, and time to play and build friendships. I will pray for each of you that time will be your friend and allow you many opportunities to spend with those you love. I look forward to serving you in the fall.
I also wish to thank Fr. Tom and Fr. Paul, and Fr. Kevin for their constant support of our school and programs. I feel blessed to be able to work alongside these devoted Franciscans. God bless us all!

Important News: As always as one year ends and another begins, change takes place. Leaving us this year are Jennifer Campbell, Karen Dito, Jennifer Reily, Emma Brodginski, Christy Choy, Ronda White, and Bonnie Ricketts. Each has given their love to the students before them.  We send them with God’s blessings as they leave us.
At this time I have been able to hire a highly, qualified, credentialed teacher for third grade. Her name is Molly Bloom. I am working on filling the other openings and will keep you apprised once those positions are filled. What I can share is that we will be able to offer Spanish, twice a week, throughout the grades. Mrs. Toda will continue with TK all the way through 3rd grade and two other teachers will take on 4th-8th grade. With openings in both fifth and seventh grade, it seems that applicants for grade five abound while that is not the case for science, grades 4-8. Ms. Markette has done a wonderful job taking over when Mrs. Reily left and she has graciously agreed to stay on in that position next fall  allowing me to pursue a fifth grade teaching position. Please pray for me as I continue to interview.

VBS RETURNS TO OLG THIS SUMMER
July 23-27 ~ 9:00 AM-12 NOON

We are excited to introduce you to Jackie Cruz our new VBS Director!
“Hello, my name is Jackie and I'm a mama to three and my children enjoy participating in VBS. I think kids are attracted to the "learn by doing" approach that VBS embraces.  We learn about Jesus and the impact of his Word by the experiences we share with one another during the week.   I have been volunteering in various leadership roles with Vacation Bible School for the past 6 summers and it is always a highlight of my summer. I invite you to share in the joy that serving in VBS as a leader can bring! It takes many hearts and hands to make VBS in a parish a successful event.”
Registration forms for Campers, and Adult and Teen Volunteers are available on-line and in the Parish office.

Parking Lot, Pick Up, Morning Drop Off and Assembly
Driving through the parking lot at drop off and pick up: Please limit your speed to 5 mph in the parking lot when children are around. This is a very important safety issue. The Somerset and San Miguel gates are entrances for morning drop off. You may exit Somerset and Anita after morning drop off. The San Miguel Gate is NOT an exit ever. The Anita gates are NOT an entrance ever. At pick up the only entrance is through the San Miguel Gate. Somerset and Anita is for exit only for pick up.
At dismissal, if you have a child in grades 4-8, drive in along the parking lot by the church unless they have a sibling in primary grades.     Please do not park in the shady area by the trees as that is the drive through area for cars picking up on the side for the younger children.   Older siblings always are to wait with the younger wear morning line up takes place. All students in grades TK-3 will be escorted to cars by their teacher or aide at dismissal. Wednesday dismissal is always 2:30 as we have faculty meetings that day.
Please be sure your child is on time  at the first bell as at the second bell each student has to be in his/her class line to avoid a Tardy slip.
Parents, please stand at the back of the class lines during morning assembly so the class lines are paying full attention to the Student Council prayer time and pledge. Please do not walk your child to the gate to enter school.
Important Notice from the Office
