TRINITY HAS RECEIVED
A GIFT COPY OF THE RECENT PUBLICATION OF
HISTORIC CHURCHES IN TEXAS
By William and Mary P. Schaefer

The story of historic churches in Texas is the story of the Anglo-American and European immigrants in Texas. It is the story of the cultures trying to coexist in an empty and hostile land: the Native Americans, the Mexicans, and the immigrants. It is the story of circuit-riding preachers tirelessly, clandestinely crisscrossing Texas, bringing the Protestant word of God to the people in a land where prior to Texas’s independence, only Catholicism was legal. It is the story of Texas.

During the last half of the nineteenth century, Texas continued to be a magnate for immigration, and each new wave of immigrants built their church to reflect their religious customs. Trinity, of course is featured among those churches, as are other historic churches in Galveston. Copies are available on Amazon.com: Hardback-$54.69, Paperback $46. Bookstore price: $70.95. ISBN 978-1-64300-016-9

PARKING LOT USE

Trinity is privileged to be permitted use of the  fenced parking lot across the street for weekly services and, with approval, for our special events. However, by owner’s terms, cars must leave the lot soon after services, lunches, weddings and funerals or risk being locked in behind the fence. We  certainly encourage use of the parking lot, but caution those planning lunch or other offsite  activities to please park elsewhere after church sponsored events. Thank you for helping us to  be good neighbors with the new owners.
