Greetings!

Through Oct. 15, communities across the U.S. will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month to honor the culture and traditions of Spain, Mexico and the Spanish-speaking nations of Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Sept. 15 was chosen as the starting point because it is the anniversary of independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence days on Sept. 16 and Sept. 18.

Members of the Mexican/Latin restaurant industry have an opportunity to educate customers about the history and traditions of those countries, and to boost profits in the process. Creating special food and drink menus is just one way to celebrate all month long. You can find great recipes appropriate for your menus at www.restmex.com.
