Shoal Creek Community
Church - 9.02.10
|
It's that time of the year again when the most talented and
eccentric celebrities of all, musicians, get recognized for their
hard work, huge egos, and their devotion to autotune.
Join us at Shoal Creek this September as we pay tribute to some of
last year's top hit songs and the artists that performed them. So
pick out your best suit, charge the stretch limo to your maxed out
credit card and find a date.
We are going to the Grammys.
Sept 2: Record of the Year: Use
Somebody - Kings of Leon
With music by the Shoal Creek Band:

"Hook"
- Grammy Nominee Medley

October
Baptisms
Did the July 7 Baptism make you
wonder -- should I be
baptized?
At Shoal Creek, we believe those adults who have made the
decision to accept Jesus as their Leader and Savior should publicly
declare their new found trust in Jesus through a Baptism by
water.
If you are curious about baptism or would like to be baptized, the
Shoal Creek community would love to walk alongside you during this
decision. This is a great next step for anybody who is ready to
declare "Jesus is my Savior."
So if you have made that decision or are considering being baptized
and are at least 12 years old, please contact Sean Hoeflicker at sean.hoeflicker@shoalcreek.org or 816.792.2992,
x25. You will also need to attend one of the 45-minute info
meetings immediately after either service on Sep 5. We'll meet in Meeting Room
3 in the office area. Visit www.shoalcreek.org/baptism for
detailed info.
We'll celebrate at the Shoal Creek campus on Wednesday, October 6
during our First Wednesday
service.

The 2010 Eyes on AIDS 5k & 10k
Race is coming soon. If you are interested in running this year,
now is the time to dust off the running shoes and get back into
fighting shape.
The race has made huge impacts for our efforts in South Africa.
Many children have been touched by the funds that you've helped
raise as runners, volunteers, and financial contributors.
This year, it's time to go big or go home as we try to set yet
another record for funds raised. If you want to be a part of
something good -- something that makes a difference, visit www.eyesonaids.com to register
to run or to find out how you can volunteer on Race
Day.
Want to Help, but Aren't a
Runner?
We Got You
Covered.
The Eyes on AIDS event doesn't just
happen. We don't plant magic beans in the ground and pray for rain.
It takes a lot of work to pull of this event and we are always
ready to welcome new faces to innovate and improve the race each
year. At Shoal Creek, we believe in excellence and excellence only
comes when people who don't think they are qualified step up and
step out into trying something new.
If you don't think you have anything to contribute to Eyes on AIDs
2010, then you need to come to the planning meetings. They take
place every Tuesday in September at 8pm at the SCCC campus.
At these meetings, you'll see where you can fit in as a volunteer
and how you really can make a difference in the lives of
children.

On Tuesday, Sep 21 from 6:30 to 8pm, there
will be a relaxed groups mixer for all adults interested in joining
groups.
At Shoal Creek, we believe groups are a key place where you can
really begin to investigate the Bible and God's promises and a
place where you can be supported lovingly by people who want to see
you succeed in growing with God.
There will be light refreshments and free childcare for children up
to 10 years old. If you would like to be a part of our Fall Group
Connect Event, please RSVP by registering here.

Thrift Store
Changing Lives!
The Thrift Store is a vital
conduit to funding some important programs. Sales support our
efforts in South Africa including the conference "Taking Jesus to
the Transkei", teaching the Church Planting Movements strategy to
current leaders and building the Care Center in Bambisana.
The Thrift Store needs volunteers to sort product, manage the shop,
and work the cash registers, but ALSO needs volunteers and Creekers
to help get the word out. The more items we sell, the more good can
be done. It's that simple.
For more info, contact Holly at holly.shaw@shoalcreek.org or call the Shoal
Creek front desk at 816.792.2992.
