Summer is well underway, with WILPF members protesting fracked gas pipeline expansion in the Northeast; reconceiving Mothers Day and Memorial Day as celebrations of peace and intentional kindness; speaking out in support of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement in California; heeding a call to action against Monsanto; and reaffirming the value of working in community, with new ways to communicate and new opportunities for leadership.


The Des Moines Branch honors Food and Water Watch founder and executive director Wenonah Hauter and longtime peace activist Sherry Hutchison at the 2016 Strong Feisty Woman Award ceremony.

On June 29, Hattie Nestel was one of 23 arrested in a nonviolent direct action to stop work on Spectra Energy's fracked gas pipeline, West Roxbury, MA. Almost 150 people have been arrested to date in sustained resistance to this pipeline.
