Pridefest: Volunteers Needed
SATURDAY, JULY 22- Volunteers are needed to staff a People of Hope booth at Pridefest. Pridefest is at Soldier's Field this year. Sign up for a time slot on the Opportunities Board or contact the office to indicate your willingness to help.

High School Youth Visit Buddhist Temple
THIS SUNDAY, JULY 23- The High School Youth, their parents, and any other interested people are  invited to Rochester's own chapter of the Buddhist Support Society for a tour with one of the Temple's monks. Come out to learn more about the beautiful Buddhist faith. Questions are encouraged! Youth are invited to bring along a small donation for the Temple of $3-5 each to help support the monks in the incredible outreach that they do in the Rochester community.
 
We will meet at POH before heading over to the Temple together at 4p. After the tour, we may head out for some ice cream as well, returning by 6p.

Running Start: United Way School Supply Drive
JUNE-JULY 23- People of Hope will be a drop-site for the United Way's annual school supply drive. View the list of requested supplies by clicking here. 

Last day to donate with People of Hope as your drop-site is this Sunday, July 23. After this date, donations need to be taken directly to United Way. 
Family Promise (IHN) Reboot
AUGUST 13-20- Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is now able to host Family Promise (formerly Interfaith hospitality Network) again after about a year's hiatus. As we are partnered with Good Shepherd, our work with Family Promise has been on hold as well, so we are eager to resume! Family Promise helps families experiencing homelessness. The families are find support in locating stable jobs and housing through the program. Our job is to help in the evening as hosts- reading books or playing games with children, cooking or bringing an evening meal, staying overnight as a host, or driving the van between the church and the day house.
 
Ready to get involved again? Or for the first time? Attend a training session Wednesday, July 26 6:30-8:30 at Good Shepherd. Even if your training is current we encourage you to come so that you can meet your fellow volunteers and the new leadership team. Pizza dinner included!
 
FaithFix Bags: July  
Pick up your new July Faith Fix! This month's theme is centered around the building blocks of faith with a heavy focus on LEGOS!  Families are encouraged to pick up a bag on the table in the gathering area during the month of July.  Bring the bag home, explore it's contents, and enjoy the devotionals and activities as you continue to grow and build your faith at home.
  
UPCOMING EVENTS
August DIG Event: Trail Opening
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 2- The interpretive trail at People of Hope Church will officially open as part of the church's summer education series called "DIG." The theme of this celebration, co-hosted by the Stewards of Hope, is "Delight in God's (DIG) Creation." You are all invited to attend this event from 5:30-8:30 pm with family friendly activities for all ages.
 
A hot dog supper will be available from 5:30 to 6:30 along with information tables and activities from local conservation partners. At 6:30p we will officially open the interpretive trail followed by a celebration with music from the Nodding Wild Onions and a bonfire.
 
Farewell Celebration for Megan and Tee
SUNDAY, AUGUST 6- Join us as we say thank you and farewell to Megan and Tee. We will be having a good ol' cookout to celebrate their time hear. People of Hope will supply barbecue pork and barbecue chicken sandwiches, drinks, deserts, and paper products. We invite M&Ms to bring a side or salad to share and a sign of appreciation to Megan for her ministry with us! Please RSVP to the church office ASAP to let us know if you are planning to attended (also is you need a gluten free bun). We hope that you can join us!
 
Film and Faith Night: Hacksaw Ridge
FRIDAY, JULY 28- Come enjoy Oscar Nominated film, Hacksaw Ridge , which tells the extraordinary, true story of WWII medic Desmond Doss, who saved 75 men in battle without ever lifting a gun and became the first conscientious objector ever to earn the Congressional Medal of Honor. As always, there will be popcorn and tea provided, but feel free to bring your favorite beverage or snack along as well. Viewing begins at 7p.

  Note: The July date will be the final Film and Faith event that Intern Megan will host. Are you a movie buff who loves to share great films and talk about what you have watched? Your help is needed to help coordinate monthly Film and Faith Nights. Interested? Contact the office.
Final Taize Sunset Service
WEDNESDAY, JULY 26-- Intern Megan's final Taize Sunset Service will focus on prayers for the mission and future of our church and of our community. Members are warmly invited to email Intern Megan any prayers, concerns, thanksgivings, or joys that are on their hearts, for themselves, families, work, school, or POH itself. Begins at 7p.
