Film and Faith: AWAKE: A Dream for Standing Rock
TOMORROW: FRIDAY, MAY 19-  Come out to POH to view the fascinating documentary, "Awake: A Dream From Standing Rock," which follows footage taken from inside the camp throughout the nearly year long protest of the DALP. Rather than trying to discern who is "right" or "wrong," or to make any moral judgement statements, we will be using this film to discuss empathy for those on both sides of the protest, both the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and their supporters, and the police/National Guard that were assigned to the area. Come for the caramel-cheese corn, stay for the scintillating discussion! Hope to see you there! Viewing begins at 6p.

Adult Learning Time: Immigration
THIS SUNDAY, MAY 21- Immigration:   Led by Marina Berglund, the Adult Learning Time will take an in depth look on the challenges and perils of the immigration system, both legally and outside of the law. What challenges are faced by the unaccompanied migrant children who have been fleeing to our country from extreme violence? What does it take to rebuild one's life after such devastation? Where does faith and Christ fit into all of this?

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Med City Marathon Water Stop
SUNDAY, MAY 28-Please join us for our annual Med City Marathon Mile Water Stop and Relay Race Exchange. Let's remind the runners and guests in our community that we are indeed "Here to Serve!" Help of all kinds is needed: set up a table with refreshments, road chalk artists, breakfast crew, and cheering and whistling section. All are welcome, and all are needed! The race begins in Byron at 7a and the first racers typically arrive as early as 7:30a. Please plan to arrive between 6:45a - 7a to help set up if you can!

There will be one service only at 10a.

Operation Bedroll MN
Operation Bedroll MN is a group of people who collect, process and crochet plastic bags to make bedrolls for the less fortunate. A group of volunteers meets every Tuesday morning from 9:30a-12p in the People of Hope Mission House to work together, all are welcome to join and help.

Even if you do not crochet, you can help by collecting and donating bags; or by coming to learn how to flatten, cut and roll bags to prepare them to be crocheted. If you would like to be involved but are not available on Tuesday mornings, you are invited to get instructions and supplies from Operation Bedroll MN to work on in your own time. Every mat requires 700-1,000 plastic grocery bags and is about 3.5 feet wide by 7 feet long at its finish.

Questions? Please contact Ginger Peterson by phone (507-269-7488).
