If you have not yet signed up for a conference with your child's teacher, please do so NOW. This meeting is critical to your child's success because you have one-on-one time with your child's teacher and can ask about your child's academic, social, and emotional progress. Call the office 943-2462 to request a conference or contact your child's teacher directly through email.
Thank you so much for the generous donation of candy to our Blue Star moms for service men and women overseas. We collected 111 pounds of candy! Some students made beautiful cards of thanks, too. Thanks, Student Leaders, Mrs. Wolff, and Mrs. Sicotte for helping to make this first community service project a success.
Our Canned Food drive is now going on and we have four big barrels that need filling. Can you help? Here is a list of preferred items:
peanut butter, whole grain cereal, low sodium soup, beans and lentils (dry and canned), canned tuna and chicken in water, canned fruit in juice, nonperishable, low sodium ready to eat food (ravioli, chili, etc.), low sodium canned vegetables, whole grain pasta, canned tomatoes. The Food Drive will be in effect from November 1 through November 30.
The past two weeks, our friends from Soul Shoppe have been here to teach the kids the "Clean Up" message, a five step process for resolving problems. This powerful companion to the "I Message," helps us to accept responsibility for our actions and make amends to those whom we have injured. In this lesson, students continued to build their emotional self awareness and conflict resolution skills. Click on the

As you know our PTA does so much for our kids and school, our next meeting is Tuesday, November 15th at 7pm in the Library. I would love to see you all there!
Childcare will be provided.
Thank you again for supporting our kids and our wonderful school.

Scholastic Book Fair Thank you
Our Scholastic Book Fair was great success again this year thanks to our wonderful volunteers and all of the students, families and staff that made purchases from the fair. We were down just a little in profits from last year. All of the profits will go directly to our school library to purchase new books.
A huge thank you to Andrea Slavet who put in full time hours planning, setting up, and working the book fair each day. Andrea we could not have done it without you, thank you! A big thank you to the following fabulous ladies who stepped up to help set up and work the fair...Alison McDaniel, Heidi Nold, Liz Iskander, Amy Cole, Amy Mason, Christine Mantua, Erika Cabrales, Kathleen Mitchell, Tami Trew, Tina Adams, Jan Wikander, Eric Sicotte, Kimberly Claus, Lyn Hirahara, Renee White, Stacy Walsh, Susan Weingarten, Joy Lim, Claire Vaserman, and Valerie Gryfakis.
From Student Leadership
Hi everybody! My name is Bella and I am a fifth grader in Mrs. Wolff's class. I'm the student leadership secretary for Murwood Elementary School! We are doing some donations for people. We collected candy for the soldiers, and are collecting lots of food for our food drive. It would be very nice of you to donate. When I say food, I mean long lasting and healthy food. So some examples you could bring are: rice, beans, canned tuna, canned fruit, cereal, oatmeal, soup, and tomato sauce. If you donated just as little as one of these items here it would still make a big difference! Again, if you could donate items to the food drive soon, it would make a big difference! Have a good week!
Read-A-Thon Dates Oct 24- Nov 7
Thank you Murwood students for a very successful Read-A-Thon. Congratulations to Kimiko H for earning the most donations and John G for logging the most minutes read. All participants with donations should select their prizes now.
