Child Advocacy Center Receives The Giving Doll's 10,000th Donated Doll
The Giving Doll gives comfort to children at times of special need by distributing handmade cloth dolls. Their NY Chapter has donated many dolls to our Child Advocacy Center (CAC) where we treat child victims of abuse and neglect. The CAC was recently voted by the Chapter's members to receive their very special 10,000th doll. Andrea Ramos-Topper, Division Director of Children & Youth Services (second from right), received the doll from Maureen Ennis, NY Giving Doll Program Director, Sue Kling, The Giving Doll Board Member, and Jan Householder, The Giving Doll Founder and Executive Director.
Thanks to a grant from Cigna, EAC Network has been able to launch a new health and wellness program to inspire healthy living and well-being among our employees. Each office is engaging in different activities to promote positive lifestyle habits. So far, team members from our 60 Plant Avenue location in Hauppauge, which is home to programs like Alternatives for Youth , Chance to Advance , Long Island Dispute Resolutions Centers (LIDRC), and Community Service , have been able to go on an outdoor excursion to exercise and discuss wellness! EAC Network’s Teen Driving Equation program once again hosted a Teen Safety Day at Mount Sinai High School to promote safe driving and discourage distracted driving among teens. The students simulated distracted and impaired driving on a safe, monitored, and pre-determined course on campus. This vital program would not be possible without the generous support of State Farm ® , who recently granted EAC Network with another annual contribution of $30,000. Read more here .
LIDRC Graduates Peer Mediators at East Broadway Elementary
EAC Network's Long Island Dispute Resolution Centers (LIDRC) conducted a Peer Mediation Award Ceremony to students at East Broadway Elementary School in Seaford. The students successfully completed a 16-hour peer mediation training, a conflict resolution program led by LIDRC's Training and Community Outreach Coordinator, Gregg Scheiner, BA, MBA (bottom left), in which student mediators utilize a process of communication and problem solving techniques to resolve disputes among students without confrontation or violence.
