'Awesome experience': Delta to the rescue

A Stockton church wanted to help youth improve their math skills over the summer. The plan almost fell apart when they couldn't locate a teacher. Then they called Delta College. Here's what happened next.

Sweet deals at the Delta College Bookstore

Don't wait for the long lines at the start of fall semester! There are some terrific deals at the campus bookstore over the next couple of weeks:

• From Aug. 6-10, all merchandise will be 15 percent off.

• From Aug. 6-10, all textbooks will be 7 percent off.

• From Aug. 13-17, free shipping will be offered for distance education students at Delta's satellite centers or for those taking courses online.

Auxiliary Services Operations Supervisor Michael Williams said the deals should help reduce congestion at the start of the busy fall semester. The sales are structured to help all students in some way, whether they live close to campus or not.

"It's the first time we've done anything like this in the bookstore, and we're really hoping to make an impact on our students," Williams said.

Scholarship in memory of 'Noodles'

It seems almost everyone in the Delta family knew recent graduate Teresa Tran, who went by the nickname "Noodles." Noodles passed away not long ago, and to honor her, students are establishing a scholarship in her name. If you'd like to donate, send checks to this address:

Give our students a warm welcome

We're still looking for volunteers willing to staff our Fall 2018 HELP! information stations around campus. If you haven't already signed up and would like to participate, it's not too late.
