Parshas Balak
June 29-30, 2018
Shalom and hello everyone!

I hope you are doing well.

Wow! What an amazing shul Annual Dinner this past Tuesday evening at the Jewish Center!

Record crowds.. incredible food... great program.. inspiring speeches… poignant memories… deserved recognition.. wonderful camaraderie… delightful music… heartfelt singing… this describes only a fraction of the positive experiences and overall success of the evening!

The event program included a moving tribute to Danny Lieberman, z”l, and a salute to our current outstanding gabbai, Ira Streitfeld .
We are grateful to David Goldstick who eloquently introduced Danny’s granddaughter, Lisa Lieberman , who joined us all the way from San Diego to accept an award and Yossi Shein for humorously introducing his long time friend, Ira Streitfeld .

We are grateful to Chazan Levi Kranz for providing the vocals and to our incredible and hard working dinner committee, Dr. Etty Burke , Tehillah Harris , and Dr. Francine Katz , for making the dinner the smashing success it was!

Thank you to all who attended and helped support our beautiful shul.

Your encouragement and financial assistance help us to what we do best at Ohav Sholom: serve the entire community with spiritual leadership, heartfelt tefilah, inspired Torah study, chessed projects, unique programming, and more!

A big yasher koach to our special Sarei Eleph and the outstanding donors who contributed upwards of $5000., $10,000. and $15,000..

You truly are the Chozei Olam , World Visionaries, M’yasdei Bayis , Founders, Bonei Yisroel , Builders of Israel and Nidvei Lev , Givers of a Generous Heart.

May Hashem bless all our participants and benefactors with prosperity and longevity so that you may continue to serve Hashem for 120 happy and healthy years, Amen!

Ohav Sholom extends a hearty mazel tov to Sam Domb upon the engagement of his grandson! The l’chaim was on the night of our annual dinner and thus Sam was unable to attend. We wish him much mazel and nachas from his entire family! Amen.

Mazel tov to Rebbetzin Ayelet Mehlman’s neice, Bracha Cohen , upon her marriage this past Monday night!

We will be attending shabbos sheva brachos in Far Rockaway with the chosson and kallah and will return iy”h on motzei shabbos in time for shiva assur b’tamuz and programming in shul.
May the couple build a true bayis ne’eman b’yisroel! Amen.
Did you know that Rabbi Eliyahu Teitz comes from the direct line and succession of 22 notable Rabbis?!

Join us this shabbos for a powerful drasha by this highly intelligent and experienced Rabbi who melds the wisdom of generations of Rabbis and a contemporary outlook of modern thinking in his delightful drashos. You don’t want to miss it!

We are privileged to welcome Rabbi Daniel Stein to Ohav Sholom on the fast day, shiva asur b’tamuz , this Sunday, July 1, 2018, to deliver an important lecture on the three week period of national mourning of our batei mikdash, between mincha and maariv.

Mincha on Sunday is 8:00pm and the lecture will commence at 8;30pm. Break-fast collation to follow maariv. All are invited!

Rabbi Stein is the Rav of the Ridniker Shteibel and Rosh Yeshiva at Yeshiva University. It is truly an honor to have this Torah scholar address our congregation. Do not miss this opportunity!
Thank you to our generous super duper gala kiddush sponsor this shabbos, Felicia Gamss , in commemoration of her dear father’s yahrtzeit, Nachum ben Ahron, z”l , on the 17th of Tamuz.

May his neshama enjoy a big aliyah in gan eden! Amen.

Please look to your email for an Halachic Primer for the fast day (this Sunday) and the laws pertaining to “bein hametzarim,” the “three weeks.”

Have a wonderful shabbos!
