Volume 7, Issue #34 -  August 24, 2017

In the name of Christ, we embrace all people to be nourished and empowered by the Holy Spirit to love and serve the world.
“Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.” (Matthew 25:34b-36 NRSV)

Our guest preacher this weekend will be Ms. Allison Duvall, Program Manager for Church Relations and Engagement with Episcopal Migration Ministries (EMM). She will also do a presentation during the Preacher’s Forum. Come and make her welcome, and learn more about this important mission.

EMM lives the call of welcome by supporting refugees, immigrants, and the communities that embrace them as they walk together in The Episcopal Church’s movement to create loving, liberating, and life-giving relationships rooted in compassion. EMM’s desire to honor the inherent value of human connection brings communities together to love their neighbors as themselves. EMM acts in covenant with individuals and partners to ensure the equity of all voices as they work to serve, engage, and sustain the mission.

The Engagement Unit engages with churches and dioceses to connect the Episcopal community to our ministry, while also supplying affiliate partners with tools and guidance needed to build support and welcome for refugees in their own communities.

PLEASE NOTE:
Sunday morning breakfast service will begin no later than 8:50 a.m.,

CHRISTIAN FORMATION / SUNDAY SCHOOL for children of all ages will begin this Sunday, August 27. This year’s curriculum will utilize Godly Play lessons and incorporate music in various forms. All children participating in the Sunday morning classroom and nursery Christian Formation Program are to gather in the Parish Hall.

At 9:15, all participants, leaders and learners will go upstairs to the classrooms together as a group. At this point, the children are under the custody of our Christian Formation leaders. If a child arrives later, the parent/guardian is requested to walk the child to the classroom. All children will remain under the supervision of the leaders until 10:15. At that time, Godly Play 1 learners that go to the nursery will be escorted to the nursery by the leader, unless the parent has given different instructions. All other learners will come back to the Parish Hall as a group to be returned to the custody of their parent(s) or guardian.

As the keepers of God’s children, we need to think about safety issues at all times. Children should remain under the supervision of a Christian Formation leader until they are returned to the custody of parent, guardian, or another appropriately designated adult.
